Kazuhiro Morimoto of Canon will be talking at IEEE Sensors 2024, about SPAD sensors (single photon avalanche diode) sensors. These are atypically used for time of flight measurements and other light sensitive applications.

I am fascinated by the tech of SPAD sensors.
But am I right, that those not yet play any role in "normal" cameras and imaging?
I suppose it is still a long way to go, to do so. Am I correct?

What do you consider a "normal" camera?
Canon's cameras with SPAD sensors are probably the best cameras in low light but they are not very useful in normal light.
"normal" = cameras comparable to EOS R, consumer, semi pro or pro grade, etc.; not surveillance, not astro, not science, etc.

Thanks for your reply, by the way.
