Crop on 5d3 to match 7d..

Am not very familiar with how this works and so am requesting help.
How much will I be able to (in percentage perhaps) crop the 22mp camera to reach the 18mp of 7d?
In other words I am trying to figure out if the reach of 1.6 crop can be reached by cropping the 5d3.

Not sure on the exact numbers, but you won't get the reach of the 7D by cropping the 5D3...

Yep, that's certainly true if you want the 7D's "pixels per duck" - you'd need at least 46mp on an FF sensor for that.

You will be left with about 8.7MP if you crop by 1.6x
As KeithR pointed you'd need a 46MP sensor to match

I am amused by Canon's marketing claiming that with the 5DIII they've introduced their highest resolution sensor.

Megapixels doesn't necessarily equate to resolution
