Considering the highly rated rumors of Sony's imminent announcement of their own 50MP body, Canon has to get this ball rolling ASAP. I know they cited some FCC hang-up, but either that was a red-herring or they put some extra pressure on it to get it through.

The Sony is a sensor with a hello kitty body around it.

Do we really need the snarky comments: "who cares"? I care. I am a landscape photographer and this camera will be great for me. I also have the 5D Mark II and Mark III and really love those cameras. There are features that I do not need (like 10 fps or more) but I do not leave derogatory remarks when canon makes a new camera that has high fps. If you have something constructive to say, even if it is critical, have at it. Otherwise, let's try to be a little more professional. This forum is great. I would like to keep it that way. Sorry for the rant.

If they also add that global shutter for ludicrous sync speeds and IBIS, 5Ds is very very dead to me. I'd be all over that A7RII.

+1 Really looking forward to this camera as a landscape photographer. Getting a bit tired of all the drivel from others about the lack of 2.8 on the 11-24, too many MP, etc., etc. Different horses for different courses. If you don't need the capabilities of these incredible cameras and lenses then don't buy them. But don't fault others that have been waiting for this stuff and are looking forward to finally getting their hands on some amazing new tools.

You have your opinion and I have mine. I'm glad you care, or else Canon would be out of business with their old sensor tech. I bought a Sony a6000 for traveling and the image quality is better than my 5dmarkiii. Again, my opinion, and just because it differs from yours, doesn't make it not "professional". Then why am I still on this forum now that I'm a "Sony Fanboy" you ask? I still believe in Canon, been with Canon since 20D, 40D, 7D, 5D, MK2, MK3.

Did you read my post? Where did I say anything about Sony. I never even used the word Sony or any other manufacturer. I appreciate that you may like other cameras. I do not work for Canon and have no stake in their success. My concern is that your comment brought nothing to the table. If Sony or Nikon had a product that I was not interested in I would not go there and leave a disparaging comment. Sometimes it is just better to say nothing. Following that guideline I will not post again concerning this topic.

Exactly. I don't go on Sony / Nikon forums complaining and blathering about their lack of certain lenses or flashes. The "old sensor tech" campaign is getting really tiresome.

OK enough with the sniping.
Ultrasound, what a great photo! I have never seen one of these, and in fact had no idea it is not an ant but is a wasp.

I just bought "another" macro lens, I don't have an urgent need to pre-order before copies get in the hand of reviewers. I don't print large. If I did print large, I would be seriously interested and impatient to see how the Canon 5Dsxes compare with other options out there, like a (hypothetical) Sony A7r II with improved shutter.

I appreciate the advice to have fun with the "old sensor tech" — it happens to make phenomenal photos, by the way. Just witness all of the great photographers doing great work with it all around the planet.

I'm sure Sony/Nikon users wouldn't get the least bit annoyed if I gave them friendly, frequent reminders about the lenses and flashes their systems lack. Surely they need to know and won't mind if I tell them, every day.

LOL!! Have fun with the old sensor tech. We're free to do and say what we want...I LOVE USA!!

Er, no you are not, this isn't a public forum it is a privately owned members forum, when you signed up you agreed to abide by the rules and anything you write can be edited or removed by the owners appointed mods. To be sure, you have absolutely no right to say anything here.

Also, whilst you might well love the USA, this site is owned by a Canadian and registered in Canada.

You might do a little spell check before you post.
There is no real limit to quantum efficiency. For example, a gen 3 image intensifier produces a lot more electrons than photons, although the QE of the first layer is less than 1. There is an energy conservation limit at least for the first, single photon absorption with no external applied electric fields present. You might also read Victor Klimov's work in the scientific literature where multiple excitons are produced by a single photon. The exciton is the first step in producing a photo current.

As a landscape photographer I'd wait with preordering. I have a feeling this is no landscape camera. Lots of pixels does not make a camera a landscape camera. I'd wait for the reviews and comparisons to other camera's when it is released. I think Canon is walking the wrong path with this one. The three year gold canon 5dIII seems a better choice in clean images and better ISO performance

You start off sounding like you know what you are talking about, then veer off with "and better ISO performance", I was shooting night time landscapes last week, at 100iso. Over 95% of my shooting is 100iso.
