Is the 5DX/III really being announced on 27/28 Feb?

Leaks abound now, and we have a CR3 rumor, which is likely 95% correct. Its 4+ days till Feb 28, so the level of info is following its normal pattern. There will be more over the weekend.

Canon is not like Nikon, they hold info very closely with only a very few peopoe knowing all the facts. However, they send out press releases two or three days before the event and then the leaks begin. Some reviewers have prototypes in hand, but they have signed NDA's (Non disclosure Agreements) and would lose the ability to get advance info is they let info slip.
Its definitely coming, and its CR3!

The details should be public by next weekend.
Here's to hoping they'll have a model on the Canon stand at Focus in 8 days.
Put another way - if something wasn't happening, wouldn't Canon want to be putting out some rumors to modify the consensus that it's imminent, rather than confirm its near announcement with stockists in meetings?

well we're 2-3 days away from the announcement and most the noise that we're hearing is coming from people speculating etc. I think what will reassure all of us is some concrete news about the speculated 5D3.

So the 27/28th Feb is aligned as a EOS anniversary announcement, with NDAs beyond that event.
Slightly paradoxical currently, but it'll make sense within a week.

As I suggested once I won't be standing by the wireless waiting for word from Canon.
Local weather is forecast to be sunny and uncommonly warm. I may go to Atlantic City and see what faces on the boardwalk come before my lenses.
