Seems like a simpler and much cheaper substitute to Canon's angle finder C which has 1.25x and 2.5x magnifications. One of the key benefits of the angle finder is magnification for manual focusing would apply to these magnifiers and MF lenses on the 5DS. The angle is just for convenience. Might just be coincidental timing since they also announced an APS version.

I am trying to research if this new eyecup will fit the T3/1100d. If so, when can I get one????
Yes, the MG-Eb model fits crop sensor bodies (MG-Ef fits full frame) and it is available for pre-order from Canon, B&H, Amazon, etc. It looks like it will be out in April.

The link to the PDF is not working for me...

When I surf to the Hongkong (english) Pressroom, I see all the published press releases 2015 (I filtered on 2015). Don't see the one for the 5Ds / 5Ds-R and also not the press release of the Magnifier :-\
I just tried it again and it works for me. The full details are in the screen shot above, which is from page 9 of the PDF.

Viola...yes now it works for me too. Must have been a hick-up in my internet connection... ???

Well....it says it fits DSLR cameras that are compatible with the Ef eyecup

My 5D MKIII uses the Eg eyecup :(
Edit: but the 6D is covered :)

Actually, I think Canon has the description backwards after checking the System Maps in the manuals. My FF 6D uses eyecup Eb while my APS 550D uses eyecup Ef (same as the T3). 1DX, 5DIII and 7DII all use eyecup Eg so I'm not sure which one is compatible with these.

I didn't think that was right, but I was quoting the press release. It's not the first time Canon's PRs have been a little off...

Aside from the magnification, what's the difference between this and the Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15?

EP-EX15 0.7x magnification
MG-Eb/MG-Ef 1.2x magnification

Can I use both to get extension and less reduction than the extender alone? That would end up being about 0.84x magnification (0.7*1.2).

The magnifiers have two elements, so there must be some extension. It can't have no thickness. So would one of the magnifiers alone be a good alternative to the (reducing) EP-EX15 extender?

I'm looking for a way to not have to smash my nose into the back of the camera as much. (The Canon Angle Finder C is another option, but it's more cumbersome)
