New 50mm 1.2 ?

Is there a new 50mm 1.2 in the future? How old is the current design?

The old design is, in the grand timeframe of Canon lenses, very new. Less than 5 years old. There are far older lenses that could use updating and replacement, such as the 100-400 f/4.5-5.6, which is a great lens, just with very dated IS technology (to name just one of many.) I'd be very surprised if the 50/1.2 was replaced even in the next 5 years unless the competition produces something vastly superior.
