Who says if there was one it would be 40MP, it could be 27MP with 1080p @ 60 fps aimed at videographers. If so, then would be priced midway between 5D3 and 1DX, about $5,200 ( [3600 + 6800] / 2)
I may be interest in this 3d if the price is around $5000 vs my 5d3 since it:
MAYBE: intergrated flash transmitter (very big deal)
more mp.. ** i can choose medium mraw if i need it small.
better build/ weather resistance
longer shutter life cycle
longer battery cycle
5d3 cost $350 for grip and it still not same as 1d ser body.
I realised how insignificant resolution was to me when I moved from a 10MP 40D to the 22MP 5D3, and didn't really notice the change in image size (other than file size).

Really?? I do a lot of cropping and printing and I notice a HUGE difference between my 5D Mark III and 1D Mark IV (22 vs 16). Guess it depends on how "far" you need to go.
...and take a lot longer in post-pro than 22Mp files. With the brilliantly specced LR4 dragging the chain in the performance department, I'd have to put my prices up to properly process a few hundred ultra-size RAW files. Not to mention pressure on current computer hardware and data storage considerations.
Still, a 40+Mp Canon will suit a lot of photographers. And may be worth considering if the price is realistic just for those special projects. In the meantime, I'm consistently stoked with 1D4 & 5D3 files.
