New crop standard zoom?

It would make very much sense for Canon to introduce a fast standard zoom with the 7DII, something like an EF-S 15-60mm f/2.8 IS USM with weathersealing. The 17-55 is nice optically, but it is not dust- or water-resistant and does not go down to a crucial 24mm equivalent. Any rumors about that? I'd buy that lens in a heartbeat for ~1000$... ::)

It's called 16-35L/4, I'm positive that Canon designs the latest and greatest L lenses with use for crop sensors in mind. The 24-70L2 might also work, but it's missing the wide end on crop and you have to carry a lot of glass you don't use. In any case the 7d2 is designed for tele, for standard focal lengths you're supposed to buy a ff.

As for a weather sealed ef-s lens from Canon, imho forget it - their marketing people will commit seppuku before giving away such a valuable differentiation.

+1

If one needs weather sealing etc in a Canon lens, one has to invest in a L series lens.
