I just restarted in taking macro photos after a while, so I'm learning again from scratch. I'm using the 100mm macro lens and a 70-300 zoom with the novoflex auto bellows. Light is based on a couple of flashes, sometime using the stroboscopic effect. I immediately understood that the essential need is a lot of preparation before the shot and a lot of patience.
My preferred current subjects are insects, or drops of water or milk.
Regarding the camera I'm using a 18-21 megapixels model and I realized that so many pixels are really usefull, maybe necessary, to do the final crop of the main subject from the context.
