Petapixel throws a haymaker of an article out: "Canon Will Dominate Mirrorless Too"

It's nice to read something with some logic, reason and common sense in it.....something much of humanity has been lacking for some years now....

Start following political law / justice / journo folks on twitter then.

Logic, reason and common sense are alive and well, but they are very very very carefully building their case right now. ;)

As long as a Canon FF Mirrorless camera is decent, they will dominate the market. The reasons have more to do with Canon's sales network than the product.

Canon has warehouses around the world that can push product into retail outlets, they have name recognition, and advertising in all the media. Its sales knowhow that allows them to dominate as long as the product is reasonable.

I would like to truly thank Sony for all they've done over the last few years. It's been a beautiful thing to watch, and I hope that soon, as Canon responds, we may all reap the rewards that come from the competitive free market.

Points well made in that article. When Canon introduced DPAF it seemed pretty clear to me that it was paving the way for mirrorless, and look how long they've taken; as the guy says in the article, they'll get it right. They took their time in implementing it in the M series too. Crafty, got people interested in the M with low prices first. Worked on me, I got an M3, now have the M5 instead. I almost feel sorry for Sony. I wonder what they'll look to next to hold a niche.

The article's writer has very similar opinions to myself.
To me, the Sony A7 series is like a young kid. All shouty with an amazing spec sheet and all, but when you really have to go to work, you want something that's quiet and just works really well.
When you have to process thousands of shots of people, then you will REALLY appreciate the great colours that only Canon can produce.

The A7 is a great experiment in what can be done. Not a production camera, but a demonstration. Hopefully Canon will make a production camera.

I personally think Canon's flagship FF Mirrorless is going to be rather remarkable; it won't be perfect but it'll be a tool for production and likely quite durable, reliable, and usable in all types of conditions.
If the 700.00 M50 is a hint of things to come; Canon's 3 or 4 grand FF mirrorless is going to be a pretty heavy duty tool....

I have hopeful that you are correct but fear that they will miss the mark in one or more areas.
