I own a good camera (Canon 60D) and enjoy taking nice pictures. Yet, I never really learned photography and would like to learn from home. Any suggestions, what reasonable good course I can take to learn photography?

+1 on Community College. Lab access is a HUGE benefit. I'm taking Independent Study this summer just for darkroom and printer access.

They do free live course every weekend almost. You can also purchase the courses in HD to watch later for $99(during live showing) or 150 or something like that after the live airing.

Have you considered private classes/ small photo workshops? You will learn a lot more and save a ton of money over traditional school. School will NOT teach you how to make money, and that is a huge part of photography. these classes will teach you how to make money, as well as be an expert behind the camera.

If you are near a large city in the U.S. one of the best kept secrets is the Digital Photo Academy. http://www.digitalphotoacademy.com/.

Much less expensive than other workshops and much more frequent classes. Basically, it's a way for professional photographers to pick up a little extra money on the side. You get exposure to and contact with working photographers.

Like others said, community college is great if you have the time.

I do like kelby training for online. You can choose any video lesson. Its very convenient and you can always resume a lesson if you have time constraints. Check it out here:

THanks 4 all your advice. I work full time and want to learn at my own pace at night. My only options are from home. I dont have the time to attend any live courses. The Kelby Training seems like a good option and maybe some books too. Any other suggestions?

NYIP New York Institute of Photography
They are great!! I know of at least one Canon Explorer of Light that took the course 20+ years ago and he is amazing!
I had just ordered the course when I met him and was wondering if I made the right choice. Once I received my materials and I had his input, I knew I made the right decision! You can do it at your own pace and you get critiqued on your assignments!

Of course, practice practice practice.

just go to your local library and borrow from there. you'll be amazed to find a lot of books from well known photogs

Having a lab available to you to use yourself is invaluable. Community College, best value hands down.
