My friend lost her images of a recent trip to Peru. Anyone here used a card recovery service that they would recommend? Thanks!

I use Image Rescue 4.

Beware, some of the freeware ones do garblefile names, do not recognize raw or mov files, and don't always do a good recovery job. They should not affect the card itself, so if they do not do the job, try a different one. After going thru several crappy freeware ones, I finally paid for a good one.

Note: I'm not referring to the Transcend program, i've not used it.

i'm actually recovering some raws right now i accidently deleted one i didnt want to on the weekend

Hopefully, they are still there. I recovered a few from my Windows recycle bin yesterday, but have had good luck with CF cards. I have at least a dozen, and none have failed since I bought my first CF cards in 1997 or 1998.

However, I sold my almost new Canon 30D a few years back to a lady and included a starter card which was fine, but as soon as she inserted her own card in the camera, it burned the camera out. Turns out, she was replacing her old DSLR which had done the same with that card inserted. Fortunately, Canon fixed it up at no charge when she took it to the dealer with my original invoice.
