So I'm either buying a used 7D. a new 60D. or waiting for 70D. I want to get it with the 18-135 (i or ii) is the 70D just around the corner? I have plenty of gear to hold off but if the 70D is 6 months+ away then will go back to 7D vs 60D
should i wait for 70D? when will it be here by?

Why does anyone think Canon will create a new camera and call it a 70D?
Frankly, I'm bewildered by non-stop talk of a 70D camera. Where did this idea originate? Has there been some credible leak or a well-sourced rumor? Or is it all pure fantasy?
At this point, I leaning toward believing a 1DX may enter the realm of reality. But something called a 70D?

There is no reason to not expect one, it competes with the Nikon D90, and Canon will not give up on outselling it. At a slightly lower price, cost concious buyers jump for it.
When a D400 comes out, we will see a 7D MK II about the same time, its all about competition and buyers who want the latest thing.

Forget the 70D. The new 70D will be the 7DII.
The T4i is the 60D in a smaller body at $150 cheaper. The 70D will have to be the 7D in terms of performace. Where does that leave the 7D? Not full frame that's for sure.
My guess is that they will merge the two lines into the 7DII.
But then again, the 7D is one hell of a camera that you can buy now and blows the 60D out of the water. (in MHO)

70D... hmmm... let me think about this for 0.1 seconds. It doesn't exist, it may actually not ever exist. Sure canon will likely bring something new to the market by christmas (but wait, that could be next year for all we know), but does one want to wait that long? I wouldn't, I'd go insane.
Im glad I jumped ship and have a 7D and not waiting on nikon's replacement for the d300s! - Waiting?... .... Still waiting...

We used to have this argument in computers with better reasons: every time Monopolysoft released a new version of winnders it required a newer bigger computer just to run the same programs. You are lucky this is Photography and no monopolysoft here (yet)
The thing you should consider is what you are missing by not having a camera NOW; (you can always sell it used and get a 70D later if it actually is better (canon seems to be set on 18 MP but higher quality sensors) - from the T4i likely the big difference will be touchscreen and if that's not so important to you, it probably won't be so much of a change
So, again: what are you missing out on now?

Had there been an announcement by Canon.. I guess you could "wait". This is just a rumour (for the time being) and if you need a camera now... just get one you like (7D) and if you feel the need to upgrade if a new one is released.. then by all means.. do so.

Not sure I understand you wanting a 70D anyway you list you have a 5D3 and a 60D now. Anyway theres no telling if or when a 70D may show up or what the MP will be. The 7D is very good but getting old but still very good. And if you just need a back up camera look at the new 650D its cheap and 18MP with a good AF system.
