Something big??

Canon’s announcement reads ‘Something big is coming’. A big red circle around the words. Could it be a really big lens?
What would be most useful for sport photographers? Maybe a 200-600/4?

There were no big lenses announced on Tuesday and frankly I was a bit surprised. Canon is rumored to be releasing a 200-500 mm f4 lens. Maybe we will see the lens once we get closer to the R1 late November release date?

Hopefully they will be better prepared with the 200-500 mm f4 lens and have stock available unlike the 200-800mm.

The market for that lens will be tiny compared to the 200-800 because the 200-500 will likely be $14-16k USD.

I think the weight will also reduce the market compared to the 200-800. Even the 28-70 f/2 as well as the two f/1.2 primes get complaints about the weight.
