The 50L: double dip on BH and Amazon, ~$1,200

BH and Amazon have been offering "double dip" deals recently - an instant discount equal to the Canon mail-in rebate. Right now, the 50L is offered for $1,439,; there is a mail-in rebate of $180, and you get 4% reward points (BH only). This brings the BH price to around $1,200, assuming that the rebate will arrive. This is below the lowest price in the last 5 years, according to canonpricewatch.

Lots of sales today, and expect more. The government shutdown has a economic impact that is spreading, and dealers are starting to panic. Many have put off buying luxury items, and dealers operate on a very slim profit margin, so they are going to be pounding Canon to cover bigger price cuts.

If the 70-200 2.8 IS v2 comes below $1800 I might be forced to buy it on general principle. I can manage it, but I'd like to pay off my CC before I buy it. But at that price, new, that's just too good to pass up.
