The "Lowly" Canon SL1

Just for fun: The north face of the Pantheon in Rome, with piazza fountain in foreground. Taken with SL1 and Canon 10-22 at 10mm f/9. Sky added in Landscape Pro 2. Perspective correction in Elements 13.

I love carrying this easy-on-the-shoulder combo with me all day.

Any other good shots to share made with this underrated body?

I love my SL1. Here are three images of mine I took in the last year. I just bought the 10-18mm and can't wait to see what great images I can get out of that combo.

I'm not sure I've shot anything even half decent on mine. (By comparison, I shot a total of one good shot with my 5D III and I bought it the day it was released, so either that's an infinite improvement with the 5D or a very insignificant one. Either way I'm just not a good photographer so I won't post anything from my SL1 here.)

That said... the ergonomics and viewfinder and autofocus and size and... everything on this are kind of great. And the sensor is at least better than the original 7D by quite a bit. Very underrated camera imo.

Nice work there! I'm really interested in the upcoming SL-2, which most people had written off as unlikely ever to appear... Wonder what sensor it will have? I want it primarily as a lightweight body for astrophotography, but I appreciate the ease of carriage - I've just got hold of a Canon 24mm 2.8 'pancake' to go with it.

My SL1 sat on a shelf for years after upgrading to 6D and 7Dmkii, and a fuji xt-10 for a grab and go camera. I almost sold it, but decided instead to have it converted to infrared by lifepixel. Its perfect for that, having live view for focusing.
