WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NEW 5D ISO RANGE WILL BE?????

@MtSpokane fair enough. looking at my camera's low light rating there i know i don't have a problem with a full stop more, with proper exposure and post-processing.

@Pedro according to DXOMark, the 30D has a low light rating of 736, so they consider anything below that to be excellent ISO performance. the 5D2 has a low light rating of 1815, which i interpret to mean that it is about 1.3 stops better low light performance.

that should give you a rough idea of what ISO you'd be comfortable with on the 5D2. if you think 3200 can be quite useable with the 30D, then you'd probably be OK with 6400 on the 5D2. (noise doesn't scale linearly with ISO, so it will probably be less than the 1.3 stops i mentioned earlier.)

by extension, if the 5D3/X is one stop better than the 5D2, then you might be happy with an ISO as high as 12800. (although DXOMark, in this scenario, would rate it around 3600.)
