I have an EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS that is less than a year old that I want to sell.

I think I understand why some people call it "evil bay" now. It looks like they are going to take about 9% of the sale price before the PayPal bite.

Is there a good forum or other site to list a lens for sale? I feel I want a reasonable but not excessive price and B&H's $500 trade-in is just not in the ballpark.

Anyway, just wondering if I am missing something on the Ebay route of if someone could direct me to a better resource.

Nine percent seems pretty high, I just sold a $1700 lens and it cost me 2.8% plus the 3% PayPal fee. I sold it for a much higher price than I could have on Craigslist, so I came out well ahead.

Out of curiosity, how did you manage that? It looks like the auction-style Final Value Fees are 9%. I have read through everything and can't seem to find a lower fee structure.

For 3% I would definitely list it. I just don't see that option available to me.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I list my stuff as fixed price listings. Its far cheaper. I also get a 20% discount for being a high rated seller. Trying to list it as a auction jumps the fee to 9%.

Without my 20% discount, the final value fee for a fixed price sale of 2,000 is $71.52 or 3.57%. Put in my discount, and the fee is $57.32 or 2.866%.
Just do the research and set your price according to what selling prices actually are. If you do not have a lot of ebay feedback, consider asking someone who does to list it for you, with no feedback, its hard to get a good price.
