Godox has announced the Godox AD400Pro II, and it’s now available for sale. I’m a firm believer in Godox because I think that Canon has dropped the ball on all things flash-related. I’m personally not sure why Canon doesn’t just get a contract with Godox and rebrand their stuff under the Canon brand name.
With mono lights, you can get around a lot of the E-TTL compatibility issues because it is simply a trigger – and sync terminals still exist in the Canon RF professional ecosphere, so you can always connect a monolight to be triggered the old-fashioned way – for now. Also, for those cameras that are not named R5, R3, or R1, most of Canon’s RF cameras support PC sync hotshoe adapters, so you can trigger your flash using this method as well, as it’s more economical.
If you don’t like tripping over a PC sync cable and crashing your lightstand (seriously, never happened to me), then Godox makes a line of wireless triggers.
Just make sure it’s compatible with your camera first. Godox has a handy flash trigger PDF document for you to review compatibility.
Now back to the actual item that Godox announced – I got distracted ;)
Godox AD400Pro ll
The AD400 Pro II is an advanced portable mono light with a recharge time being as quick as .01 seconds (low power settings). It offers 10 power settings from 1/512 to full power. The optional Godox USB charger charges the internal battery in around 90 minutes. There is also AC power input for studio environments.
A built-in LED with adjustable color temperature provides the modelling light and can double as a continuous light source.
The AD400 Pro II is compatible with the Godox 2.4GHz wireless X system. That includes the trigger we showed above and others.
The AD400 Pro II is available now for preorder for $649.
