Godox just gave the full reveal for the AD100Pro II, and while it still looks like the same round flash design we’ve come to expect from the line, the improvements they’ve actually made are pretty functional. Remember the original version of this light? It was a great concept that struggled a bit in the real world. This version is all about solving the little issues users experienced when they went out and used the original in actual field conditions.
Better Heat Management
The largest problem with a small flash generally has to do with the heat. If you are shooting full power out in the sun, things will heat up quickly. The largest improvement that Godox has added is a fan and a redesign of how air moves inside the flash. They claim you should now be able to fire 60 to 100 full-power shots without having the flash slow down or turn off. That would be a large improvement for a wedding or event shoot.
Color-Coded Workflow
There is a new ring of light around the back that is capable of shining 16 different colors. At first, this seems a bit gimmicky until you think about why they did this. When you have your rim light set to “Blue” and your key light to “Green,” you can plainly see this from the other end of the room. When you’re using the new X3 (X-Nano) trigger, you will see this information reflected on your screen. This is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen on a speedlight, and I hope other manufacturers adopt it; it’s a fantastic idea.

Battery and Charging
It has increased power capacity (3300mAh vs 2600mAh) to give you almost 500 flashes at full power. The improvement over the older model is that you simply plug in a USB-C cable to charge it. You won’t have to carry a dedicated charging cradle made of plastic with you anywhere. Simply use your mobile or laptop charging cord. Thank you, EU standards.
Comparing the older version to the new version, you can see that the differences aren’t dramatic, but they are important for those who need to use this flash in professional environments.

Elinchrom added it on the ELC models years ago - and it's available on the ONE, THREE and FIVE models too - the group color is shown by the color of the logo and a bar on the rear display, matching the colors in the Elinchrom Studio software.
