It looks like things aren't going to settle down as far as tariffs on various countries around the globe. The USA has set an August 1, 2025 deadline to reach a trade agreement, or there will be a 25% tariff on all exports from Japan.

The current tariff on most exports from Japan is 10%.

Will it affect Canon pricing again?

Last month, Canon officially raised their prices across the board on cameras, lenses and printers.

We're hoping that Canon Inc. set their price increases at a rate that could offset any further tariff volatility. We imagine Canon Inc. will eat some of the US tariff costs, but we don't know for sure.

Trading partners got another reprieve as Trump signed an executive order on Monday extending the Wednesday deadline for negotiations to August 1.

Asked if the deadline was firm, Trump said: “I would say firm, but not 100% firm. If they call up and they say we'd like to do something a different way, we're going to be open to that.”

Keep Hope Alive

We hope prices remain at their current levels, and that Canon USA will reduce the pricing burden on gear through various programs such as the current trade-in bonus, rebates and cashback if things remain in flux.

We don't expect MSRP price drops, unless a product clearout has begun as Canon makes way for whatever is next.

Good times.
