MAP Camera released their results for December 2024, which is a little anticlimactic because they have already done their top cameras for the entire year. But here we are.

The surprise for me was that the Nikon Z50 Mark II jumped up to the #1 spot, and according to MAP Cmaera, it was a dominant number 1 finish for the small Nikon camera, as MAP camera stated the sales were twice that of the number 2 ranked X-M5. There's a good reason, though, as the Z50 Mark II started shipping around the middle of December, so the jump in positions had a lot to do with the initial sales of the camera.

Fujifilm's X-M5 continues to sell well as it claims the #2 position, and finally, Canon takes 3rd spot with the very popular EOS R5 Mark II.

CANON EOS R5 MARK II

  • 45MP Full-Frame Stacked BSI CMOS Sensor
  • DIGIC Accelerator Processing
  • Dual Pixel Intelligent AF, Eye Control
  • 8K 60 Raw/4K 60 SRAW/4K 120 10-Bit Video
  • Up to 30 fps, Pre-Continuous Shoot Mode
  • 5.76m-Dot EVF with OVF Sim. View Assist
  • 3.2″ Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • In-Camera Upscaling to 179MP
  • CFexpress & SD UHS-II Memory Card Slots
  • Wi-Fi 6E / Wi-Fi 6 Support

MAP Camera stated that the supply has stabilized and is always in stock. They also say sales are steadily increasing for the EOS R5 Mark II.

There were next a few inconsequential Sony cameras (kidding, of course, the A1 II and A7C II finished 4th and 5th, respectively), only to be followed by the EOS R1. No, before we get into the “Canon's R1 was outsold by the A1 II” and the internet doing internet things, the A1 II is in its initial release period, so much of that is clearing preorders.

The overall rankings for December are;

  1. Nikon Z50II
  2. FUJIFILM X-M5
  3. Canon EOS R5 Mark II
  4. SONY α1II
  5. SONY α7C II
  6. Canon EOS R1
  7. FUJIFILM X100VI
  8. Nikon Z f
  9. RICOH GR IIIx
  10. SONY α7IV
