The Canon PowerShot V1 has been written about a lot recently and we figured we'd put all of the information we have in one place. There is some new information about the upcoming camera.
The announcement for the Canon PowerShot V1 will be a bit different than normal. It looks like it will be a sort of development announcement. Canon Japan will announce the camera before CP+, which begins in a couple of weeks, with a full announcement coming some time in March.

We think pretty much everything about the camera will be released before CP+, so it's not really a standard development announcement. This seems like a new way to launch a camera from Canon, but something could have been lost in translation.
We're told that the Canon PowerShot V1 will have a launch price of $899 USD. We do not have pricing in any other currency at this time. The pricing doesn't shock us considering the larger sensor size for a compact camera.
We have also been told that there will be a whole line of accessories for the PowerShot V1, though we do not have a list of what to expect. It'll probably the usual sort of stuff and there will likely be a “creator” bundle launched at some point.
Both the PowerShot G7 X Mark III and PowerShot SX70 HS will be discontinued in the first half of 2025, so we expect the PowerShot V1 to hit the market some time in March or April of this year.
Canon may also show one or two “concept” PowerShot cameras at CP+.

Does canon need a p1100 camera? I say yes that camera sells like crazy too.
Assume you mean first half of 2025. Looking forward to this announcement as I have been on the fence for a replacement smaller format camera for quite some time. 16-50 would serve most of my needs especially if it is decent optics. Could make for a great little Astro camera if he has the chops at higher ISO and has decent optics at 16mm. Would replace my iPhone for most images as my carry around camera as the Raw files on the iPhone are pretty sad.
I was wondering that myself. But you would think that we would know by now, based on the amount of other details that have leaked.
