According to L-rumors, both cameras will be able to copy from CFe/SD to and SSD and that both cameras will have a new autofocus mode called “Urban Sports” which could mean a lot of things, but anything new in the industry is welcomed.
Summary
The rumored pricing for both cameras is a little bit surprising, as the recent Panasonic S1R II retails for €3599, so that puts 3 S series cameras pretty close to each other price wise, though they do seem to be fairly well segmented, so it would seem Panasonic wants very capable cameras under €4000.
We admit that we don’t have a lot of experience with Panasonic LUMIX S series cameras, but those that do use them seem to love them. We think these cameras are much better value than Leica’s SL series as far as L mount cameras go. The Leica tax is extreme on the SL line.
We think it’s safe to bet that the LUMIX S1 II will be a video powerhouse, which has always been Panasonic’s biggest strength.
