Update – April 16, 2025
Canon USA price increases will happen before the end of April. It’s possible that we’ll see them as early as April 21, 2025 which is the day after the current Canon USA rebate program ends.
We’d be surprised if a new rebate program was launched as usually happens.
The price increases are rumored to be between 7-8% across the entire Canon camera and lens line-up.
It’s one thing to “panic buy” the necessities of life. Cameras and lenses really aren’t that for most people. If you’re in the market for new gear and can swing it financially (Don’t give the credit card companies 19%!), this week is probably a good time to do so. Especially if you’re buying one of these.
It looks like we may see Canon USA increasing prices across the board in response to the current trade-war between the USA and China. While the USA has paused the 24% reciprocal tariff on Japan, there is still a 10% tariff in place.
Canon in China
Canon’s supply chain in China includes more than just cameras and lenses, impacting prices. There is also the threat of a new semiconductor tariff plan that will also have an effect on supply chains.
We’ll have to wait and see how cameras and lenses are going to be affected by any changes in electronic and semiconductor trade changes.

Canon USA & The World
We have been told that Canon USA will be raising MSRP on products across its entire line of consumer products. How much prices will go up is unknown at this time, but with the possibility of the price increases coming sometime in the next two weeks, we won’t have long to wait.
We don’t know if any changes in USA pricing will affect other countries as well. While there aren’t direct tariffs with Japan on cameras and lenses from say, the EU, the supply chain cost increases may have an influence on pricing outside of the United States.

EOS R50 V & RF 20 f/1.4L VCM Preorders
We are still waiting for the Canon EOS R50 V, RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ and RF 20mm f/1.4L VCM to start shipping on April 28, 2025.
For the moment, preorder pricing will not be affected by coming price increases, but after the initial allocation, it’s likely that there will be.
Final Thoughts
All of this has been erratic to say the least, and some motivation for price increases may be to offset the challenges from the volatility and give Canon USA some breathing room so they aren’t having to adjust pricing constantly.
If you raise MSRP, rebate programs will be easier to implement to reduce the sticker price for consumers until there is some stability in trade.
We are not sure at this time how big the price increases are going to be, and if they will be on everything Canon sells.
B&H Photo and Adorama are closed until April 21, so if you want to get out ahead of the price increases, we recommend Midwest Photo, Canon USA’s Amazon store or Canon USA themselves.

This is subject to be changed in these days pushed by stunning tariffs of the day from 10 to 145%
So yes, it is liberation day around the world, just not the NYC based wholesale.
Like other terrible things that were reintroduced lately...
But I really wonder why Mr. T. seems to like to exaggerate his own hand.
Why are they closed?
