We have discovered an issue where the SD card is not recognized by the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, EOS R5, or EOS R3 after sanitizing it with Refresh Pro (version 4.0.3 or earlier). We plan to release Refresh Pro (version 4.0.4) soon, which will implement a fix. We ask that customers using the affected models stop using Sanitize until then.

Customers using the affected cameras should refrain from using SD card sanitization until they update to Refresh Pro 4.0.4.

After sanitizing (low level formatting) an SD card with Refresh Pro, it will no longer be recognized by the following cameras.

This is an SD card issue, but CFexpress Type B, Type A, and Cfast cards are not affected.

Affected Cameras

*It has been confirmed that this issue does not occur with firmware versions prior to those listed above for each camera.

Cause of the Problem

The format of the SD card used for Refresh Pro Sanitization was not recognized by the camera.

If You Have Sanitized the Card

Download the SD formatter provided by the SD Association and format it. Then it will be usable in your camera.

Our Response Measures

We plan to release Refresh Pro 4.0.4, which implements the workaround, soon (scheduled for September 27, 2025).

When you launch Refresh Pro, the message “Version 4.0.4” will be displayed, so please update.
