DPReview has finally completed their exhaustive review of Canon's 50mp EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R camera bodies.

Their review has a lot of positives and some negatives about these cameras. Most of which we already knew, both of these Canon bodies are for a specific type of photographer, and for those photographers, they do a great job. For the rest of us? Perhaps waiting for the replacement to the EOS 5D Mark III is the way to go.

From DPReview:

While the 5DS and 5DS R are solid additions to Canon's lineup, ultimately they're not really best at much save for ultimate resolution. That may be a hard sell if you can give up just a bit of resolution for more capability in competing products, even from Canon itself. And with MSRPs of $3699 and $3899, those competitors will be more modestly priced as well. The one-trick pony feel of these cameras won't matter for the types of photographers craving medium format-esque resolution, but it does keep them from garnering our top award. Read the full review
