We reported last week that Canon was going announce and/or release major new firmware for the Canon EOS R1 and Canon EOS R5 Mark II ahead of CP+, which begins at the end of February.
Since that time, there seems to be some reports about what could be coming for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II. We haven't confirmed the following and are reporting information based on third-party reporting.
Coming Canon EOS R5 Mark II Firmware (Rumored)
- 4K 60fps oversampled mode which has been highly requested
- Open gate full sensor recording option
- APS-C full sensor recording in 17:9
- 120FPS maximum in RAW
We don't know when the new firmware is going to be announced for either the Canon EOS R1 or Canon EOS R5 Mark II, but we're very confident that at least an announcement will come some time in the next month.

Customizable stills/video switch? (stills/stills!)
No more info-text when reviewing for the first time?
1) in-camera production of RAW pixel-shift, higher-res feature.
2) increase rate of success for pupil tracking refinements
3) better automatic bluetooth reconnection to phone (my car's connection is very grabby without any input by me, why not my camera?)
And maybe pixel shift high res like in the R5. These modern Ai features are a joke.
Also, where’s that Lightroom integration Canon was talking about during the launch event?
If you knew how often I didn't find easy to find settings... 🙄
"Anyone who can read has a clear advantage". Obviously, this time I have a disadvantage 🤣
This is where I looked. I couldn't find it... mode dial is set to "M".
