SanDisk Professional 44TB G-RAID Overview

  • 2 x 22TB 3.5″ 7200 rpm HDDs
  • 2 x SATA III 3.5″ Drive Bays
  • 1 x PRO-BLADE SSD Mag Slot
  • 2 x Thunderbolt 3 Ports
  • Supports RAID 0, 1, and JBOD
  • Pre-Configured in RAID 1
  • Read Speeds up to 260 MB/s
  • Write Speeds up to 250 MB/s
  • Preformatted APFS for macOS 11+
  • Windows 10+ Compatible via Reformat

Inside the stylish enclosure are two 22TB 3.5″ Ultrastar Enterprise Class 7200 rpm hard drives that are preformatted APFS for for macOS 11 or later and may be reformatted for Windows 10 or later. It also works well with iPadOS 14 and later. Delivering the reliability needed for backing up massive files, the G-RAID MIRROR is preconfigured as RAID 1, which simultaneously creates a 1:1 copy of your data on both drives.

That way, you’ll have a backup if one drive should fail. However, this also means that you can only work with half the capacity of the array while read and write speeds reach up to 260 MB/s and 250 MB/s, respectively.

If you prefer to work with content directly from the G-RAID Mirror, the hardware-based controller lets you change to RAID 0 mode by flipping the DIP switches located on the rear of the enclosure.

Doing so combines both disks into a single volume and splits the data between them, giving you access to the full 44TB capacity while boosting the read performance to up to 510 MB/s. But be aware that changing modes will erase the data from the drives.
