Boring Stuff
I'm free!

I no longer have a “day job”. I am now solely Canon Rumors and Lens Rentals Canada.

I will have a lot more time to focus on this site, which I'm looking very forward too.

Soft Sell
I believe in the soft sell and try not to have too many ads on the site.

A lot of great work has been put into our new and improved price watch pages. Some of you may have noticed. There are a lot more retailers and the prices are about as accurate as humanly possible.

Whenever you buy from any of the price watch links, Canon Rumors receives financial support. This is now my livelyhood, so if you wouldnt mind….. :)

If you don't, please do not feel guilty. Support your local stores if you have them. They're important parts of our community.

Thanks to Gordon for the great work on the price watch pages.

Thanks to the readers for allowing this life change.

  • Good job mate! Will continue to support for sure and spread the words! You’re our hero!

  • Indeed u are our hero… =)

I will recomend this site to all my students to look out for gear and ofcourse.. rumors..

they all will become as sick as Im, or worse…. xD

  • Great! Good job! And keep up the good work!

I only check about 20 times a day,,, so,,,

    no complaints here!!!!

  • Looking forward to more info from this site. Unlike Nikonrumors which can post utterly stupid stuff (i.e., things that are blatantly photoshop), this site is far more sensible.

    Best of luck.

  • Yep, nikonRUMORS.com shouldn’t have stuff like that. It is, after all, a RUMOR site.

Who cares if there is stuff like that on there, it makes for good conversation. And if your butt-hurt about it don’t go there.

Although I am a Nikon guy I check out the competition, I dig the video features of the 5D. :)

    Keep it up CR

  • congratz cr guy. Life gets real good when you start making money with what you love.

  • Congratulations! and keep up the great work on this site! you can count on your readers’ support!

  • It’s always good to hear when someone manages to give up a day job for something they love. Well done, and best of luck for the future.

  • if you can add canadian shops to the price watch section, i would think that would help your cause even more?

  • Hi, congrats and all the best! I also like it here because compared to some other rumorists, you speak real English and don’t sound like a frenzied fanboy.

  • You obviously DON’T get it. This is a perfect example of what I am trying to say:

    http://nikonrumors.com/2010/06/11/nikon-d400-capture-nx-2-screenshot.aspx

It is apparent the above screenshot comes from some lousy photoshop work. Canon Rumors had received similar stuff in the past and the editor simply threw ’em out the window. The editor should have done some basic screening before posting garbage.

If you enjoy making conversation out of garbage, go to DPReview.

  • Very glad to hear you’re so committed to this site! I check at least once daily and have really liked the changes over the last 6 months. Keep up the good work!

I just wish someone would start up “Canon Rentals Australia” in a fashion that actually works. IMHO It’s far too difficult to get what you want at a reasonable price here.

  • Great! You should offer some ads that are payed by clicks – it’s hard to support you from europe, because it’s hard to buy something in USA because of guarantees, shipping and so on.

  • Congrads,

Life is short and doing what you Love is important.

    Keep up the Great Work.

    WAL

  • CR guy, love your site – look forward to more content – as for ads – they are fine – especialy ones about new equipment, and items we are all interested in.

  • this site belongs to you, and you belong to this site… you should keep it up even if it doesn’t benefit you a penny

  • Excellent, like others i only check it only 20~40 times a day.

    Thanks

  • Condratulations on your lens rental venture. I’m sure it is both exciting and a bit scarey to be totally dependent on a business venture. I did it 10 years ago and am still plugging along. The secret to a successful business is to be honest, and always care for your customers. Then, if you have a good product and keep costs under control, the income will follow.

  • Congratulations on ditching the day job and going full time with your site! I made the move back towards the beginning of this year and so far it’s been great. Now I freelance and run my site full time and loving it :) Good luck and keep up the great work.

  • The only reason why that was published is, because it comes from a VERY credible source, a known Nikon tester. I am sure CR would have published the same thing, no matter how much photoshoplike it looks.

  • Since you are putting a lot of time and effort into the site why not develop it into a constant on going knowledge base on every Canon photo product. You could start each ‘section’ (a lens/body/etc per section) with a technical overview, then test results.
The follow on comments could then be user notes, reviews etc. I know I would find this useful, as I don’t really enjoy doing lens tests.

  • Can you put a link on your page to a forum where we can post about our dream camera, put up photoshops of what it might look like, and list our fanciful features that it would have based on what is actually available and technically possible. I think this could help push the manufactures to implement these features. Thanks JC
