SmallRig has launched a new cooling fan that is compatible with both the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R5 Mark II. The cooling fan attaches to the back of the camera to bring cool air to the area of the camera that produces the most heat.

It has always been suggested to have the screen open to improve cooling performance, especially on the EOS R5. If it’s open, this would be a great accessory to improve your record times.

Performance

SmallRig claims you will be able to record 8K30P video for twice as long with the EOS R5 Mark II at room temperature, along with 30% more record time in hot 40c environment.

The Cooling Fan is equipped with two adjustable speed levels, one for quiet for operation and the other for extreme heat dissipation.

SmallRig also builds safety features into the fan, including overheat, low-voltage, over-voltage protection and fan blockage alert.

Installation is simple, you simply snap it on and off without any sort of mounting hardware permanently attached to the camera. You can remove the mount support used for the 5 series cameras, and it will also be compatible with select Sony cameras.

The SmallRig cooling fan is compatible with V-Mount battery ecosystem.
