One of our favourite accessory makers for photographers and videographers SmallRig has launched their cage for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II with the Canon Cooling Fan CF-R20EP.

SmallRIg launched an array of EOS R5 Mark II accessories back in November, but this is their first with the Cooling Fan grip attached.

The SmallRig Cage for Canon EOS R5 Mark II with Cooling Fan CF-R20EP 5092 is designed to protect the camera while offering versatile expansion options. It attaches to the camera with one 1/4″-20 screw at the bottom and two M3 screws on both sides, while integrated silicone pads prevent scratches. The cage allows unobstructed access to buttons, card slots, and battery compartments.

Equipped with multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded holes, as well as ARRI locating holes, it accommodates various accessories, including top handles (ID 4757, 3765) for smooth camera movements, side handles (ID 4015, 4346), monitor mounts (ID 2903B, 2904B), and magic arms (ID 3873). Three cold shoe mounts allow for attaching microphones (ID 3487) and LED lights (ID 4660).

The base plate integrates an Arca-Swiss quick release plate for compatibility with DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, and RS 4 Pro stabilizers, facilitating swift transitions between handheld, stabilizer, and tripod setups.

A front 1/4″-20 locating hole compatible with the single rod clamp (ID 3276) allows for the attachment of a single 15mm rod and supports accessories like follow focus. Additionally, it features a strap slot for wrist straps (ID 3848, 2456) and a QD socket for shoulder straps (ID 4118). Moreover, a built-in double head wrench at the bottom ensures effortless assembly and disassembly.

  1. I recently started using SmallRig cages (Black Mambas) on my R5 and R5 Mk2 and find them fantastic accessories. You can attach a small arca-swiss plate to the upright portion (camera left) to make the cage an effective low profile L-bracket that allows full articulation of the LCD screen. Only quibble I have is the placement of the SmallRig brand which obfuscates the Canon brand. RRS did it right by placing their name on the lower portion of their L-bracket.
