The first half of 2026 announcements from Canon appear to be reaching more people before the official announcements. The last of the major camera tradeshows, CP+ begins February 26, 2026, and runs through March 1, 2026.
I do expect an announcement or two before the show, but it's also common for Canon to wait until after CP+ for more announcements. It's probably best to limit how many new things will be at tradeshows. The brave people behind the counters at the Canon booth can only answer so many questions about new gear.
One of the claimed announcements ahead of CP+ is for the EOS R3 Mark II. I was told it would be a development announcement the first week of February. I have very little faith in that happening as I mentioned. I guess we'll find out soon!

Canon's First VCM L Zoom?
I have made one mention about an RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS VCM in the pipeline. That mention came from anonymous places, and there really isn't anything that I can confirm about its existence.
I think another thing to put in the back of the mind is the possibility of some f/4 zoom lenses like the EF 24-70 f/4L USM. Small is good, but they also don't sell as well as the f/2.8 lenses. A 24-70 f/2.8 is a bread and butter sales and money making machine.
I have been told that we will see a “wide angle zoom” L VCM lens announced at some point in March. I wouldn't think it'll match the size and weight of the current VCM prime lenses.
Voice Coil Motors are likely going to become a core feature of many Canon lenses going forward. That's why I wouldn't put it in the same series as the VCM prime lenses.
I wasn't told what the focal range is going to be. What constitutes a “Wide angle” lens can mean different things to different people. I don't want to guess at this point.

A Second Canon L Lens Coming in March
The same person has said that there will be a second L lens announced in March, though there are no further details. Again, guesses is a fruitless endevour.
We have seen a few f/1.2L prime lens patent applications recently. Patents for L lenses rarely come before a product is announced, but that doesn't mean that'll be the case here.
I do hope that we get the desired RF 35mm f/1.2L from the Canon Rumors faithful. If I can't get an RF 28mm f/1.4L VCM, I guess it's nice to be happy for others.
More to come
This bit of information sure seems plausible and there have been enough hints to make it worthwhile publishing.
Nikon and Sony are both using Voice Coil Motor lenses across their lineups. Nikon's supertelephoto lenses are great and they utilize a similar autofocus motor.
I'm looking forward to some cool lens designs this year. It seems the “core” lenses are in place for the most part and it's time to bring more new ideas to the lineup.
