Viltrox adds probably one of the more unique flashes I've seen in .. well, ages. Let's put it this way: hardly anyone gets excited when they visually look at a speedlite.
But the Spark Z3 is nothing like that. It has a clear top, so you can see the electronic guts inside, which is something I haven't seen in a flash.
It's not just a pretty flash; it features both manual and automatic modes, boasts an internal battery that supports up to 650 flashes per charge with a 1-second recharge rate, and promises to charge completely in 70 minutes. Manual modes offer 1/64th to full power in 7 levels, allowing you to adjust the flash power with excellent precision manually.
At 144g and measuring 78.4 × 67.2 × 55.9mm, this flash can literally be taken with you anywhere. Just toss it into the kit bag. It's also very suitable for Canon's smaller cameras, such as the R8 or R50V, where a larger flash would be unwieldy on a smaller camera.
Now, mind you, this thing has a minimal guide number (3 feet), so it's not going to be much better than your built-in flash (usually has a guide number of 7 to 15).
This flash will be available for Canon, “soon” as it's initially released for Nikon and Fujifilm. The price of the flash is $54.99.
Would I buy this? Absolutely! This would have been parked on my EOS-M's in a New York Minute.
