Yodobashi Camera released their top 10 lens list for July and well, basically, Sony cleans up. This is for Yodobashi camera stores in Japan only.

It also stands to reason that Sony would do well, as Sony has a ton more mirrorless full-frame FE mount cameras out there in the wild, and those people do tend to purchase lenses. Since older A-mount lenses are essentially museum pieces, if you want a lens for your Sony FE-mount camera, you are purchasing a new lens.

That being said, 8 out of the top 10 spots are taken up by Sony mount. 6 Sony lenses, and 2 Tamron lenses. Canon's own RF 100-500mm F4.5-F7.1L IS USM and RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM finish up the top 10.

Some of this could also be down to stock – as Canon has been struggling with inventory and getting lenses into people's hands for a while now. Also it was noted that Sony's price increases were at the beginning of August, so that could have helped fuel the sales of Sony lenses in the later part of July.

The top 10 list;

  1. Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM
  2. Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS
  3. Sony FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS
  4. Tamron 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD (E-mount)
  5. Sony FE 20-70mm F4
  6. Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (E-mount)
  7. Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS
  8. Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM
  9. Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM
  10. Canon RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM

  1. It is because ZV-E10 is very popular and cheapest in Japan.
Some shop price is cheaper than R100 some shop in Japan.
R50 is more expensive than ZV-E10
This is the July market share in Japan only
Sony is 49.7% in July because they will increase the price in Aug.

I'm not following the logic on how a top ten list of full frame lenses costing around $2,000 are due to ZV-E10 costing less than the R50. No one buying the apsc ZV-E10 or R50 is buying any of these expensive full frame lenses.

I agree the announced price increase is probably the motivating factor here. The people with disposable income probably decided to pull the trigger if they were on the fence.

I didn't mean all would buy the top lens. But more cameras sale must help to sell all lens.
I saw many Japanese would spend money to expensive lens even they choose APSC camera.
