I’m holding out for a $500 rebate on the Canon 5D Mark II so I can have a spare. Does anyone know when this will happen?
Also, someone told me Canon might do a buy one get one half off on the big white lenses like the 600mm.
This rebate looks pretty good though…$500 off the 200mm f/2!! Man I’d love to get a Tilt Shift, oh well.

Too bad the rebate prices are offset by the increasing price of the lenses. The 24-70mm 2.8L rebate puts the price of the lens back to where it was 4 weeks ago before the prices of all lenses started spiking higher.

Apparently there was a “summer sale” on a lot of L series/pro stuff, which I found out about when I visited my dealer to update values for my insurance. They had two different price lists, one of which was only valid through the end of July, I think.

After this round ending in late October will there be anymore rebates before the end of the year? Or is this the holiday sale?

I see the 24-105 is still listed. Guess it’s not being discontinued!

I have the same question everytime, but Europe is here to pay: 1$=1€
Well, still waiting for a 60D with an APS-C in addition to my 5D before buying anything…

So – what’s the point of offering rebates on lenses that nobody can buy because there is no supply?

I second this.
Like a previous poster these rebates just put the lens back to their near original price earlier in this year before the price spike.

Thats assuming that they don’t raise prices again. Usually the rebates go along with some sort of price increase.

WHAT ??
85mm f1.8 L ?? What is that ??? Is it a TYPO ??
Hello World ?
Or Canon 100mm f2.8 M ?? M ??
does this mean there will be no 70 200 f2.8 L hIS ? ..
Canon doesn`t quite do rebates on ultra-recently launched lenses (new Tilt Shift’s are not on this list)..
I feel a bogus feeling about this list ..
what is the CR mark ? ..

the M is for Macro
the L on the 85 has to be a typo, and I’m guessing the same with the 70-200

Was hoping to see the 24 f/1.4 II on the list… that lens has gone up over $200 since introduction. In the past new lenses usually didn’t increase in price along with older equipment, since it would already be priced at a new product premium.
Interesting though to see the 200 f/2. Back when the US had their instant rebates and the CAD and USD were near par (early June), I was very tempted… but even with $500 off the lens will still be a premium price.

I fail to see how a front shot of the 50D shows that the 60D image is fake. Canon could just use the same body and update the insides.

Well then Canon even replicated the spec of dust under the mirror, and the grooves in each and every screw. This is fake and a poor one. The “6″ in the 60D logo stands out.
take care,
Chris

Canon should discontinue their lousy 24-70 and 70-200
as soon as possible. I always pity my canon user friends for choices different lousy lenses.

45mm? I think the 90mm would be better
Canon should update the frequently used lens in events and weddings like the 35mm 1.4L, 50mm 1.2L, 135mm 2.0L, 24-70, 70-200 and that will take a chunk out of the nikon user base!

photography is not about lens mate !
its about what u shoot.

But its also true that what you shoot dictates what type of lens you buy. You’re probably gonna get a better photo of a bird using a 600mm L vs. the stock $100 lens.

that’s funny I always pitied my nikon friends for having to wait so long to have a 24-70 2.8 lens and were stuck with a 28-70 for 4 years while I enjoyed mine.
Not to mention how long the poor souls using nikon had to wait for updated autofocus lenses such as the 70-200 2.8, or how they continue to wait for even smaller lighter full metal durable lenses such as the 24-105/4, 17-40/4, or the 70-200/4’s.
and we won’t even get into primes now will we, because then we simply pat the poor nikon souls on the shoulder and go there, there .. like every year, there’s rumours of prime updates coming soon.

I would like to know the source of this announcement, because I’ve not seen this info on other sites and no one at my local photo stores knows about this rebate program. Thx!

I feel VERY, VERY fortunate. Maybe some of you remember or know of a time when BHPhoto use to give out promo codes for attending their events and people were posting these codes online.
I remember buying my 24-70L brand new for $950 because there was an instant rebate plus I added that code in.
I got my 70-200L f/2.8 IS for 1450 same day as the 24-70. And I got the 580EX for $340
I haven’t checked on the prices lately but I do hear a lot of people saying they jacked the prices up a lot. That sucks. I better hope my gear lasts a long, long time.
