Third Party Manufacturers / Pentax K-3

This beast....

If pentax had in lens IS, and a longer brighter lens than 560 5.6, I would be totally tempted to spring for this beast...

Except, I have an odd fixation with the 7D. I eagerly await to pony cash over for the 7D MK II. But, Canon should take serious warning about this. Pentax has some very neat looking primes. Anyone shoot pentax too? (other than old m42 stuff... which is totally gold!!! I love that takumar thing...)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D MK II Error - Pink Frame
« on: April 13, 2013, 09:55:11 PM »
Ladies and Gentlemen!

I have a 5d MK II, bought from ye Canon refurb store, and the other day, it randomly started making frames like the one attached. When I would take the picture, it would simply capture whatever the previous image was, but with a pink cast over it. Removing the battery would help, but, then it randomly stopped doing the error. A week later, it started doing it again, for no clear reason.

Then, tonight, it started doing it again, for no clear reason! Here is an example frame. It seemed to be doing it a lot more tonight than the previous time...

Third Party Manufacturers / Takumars, Anyone?
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:35:24 AM »
Anyone else here like Takumars?

I have a 50 1.4 Super Takumar, the kind with the Thorium, which I love shooting on my 7D. It seems ideal on the 7D for sharpeninjg corners the poor man's way. I also like the warm glow it gives like everything. Sure now, and it could be added in post, but I like the visceral sort of feel it brings. At some point I might even get around to posting some of my favourite images from it! I also like the fact that it is all metal, and the focussing is epicly smooth.

Anyone else out there like them?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / King Cobra vs. Wimberly
« on: February 01, 2012, 10:58:15 PM »
Hi Everyone! I know that this may be posted in the wrong place, but I couldn't figure out where to post to...

I am looking to get a gimbal head: should I pony up and get the wimberly, or save a few bucks, and get the King Cobra?

Has anyone ever used the King Cobra? How is it?

Lenses / Tiffen 77mm Digital HT Circular Polarizing Filter
« on: February 01, 2012, 10:44:30 PM »
I saw the adorama add on Bryan Carnathan's sight, so I went and scored one while it was on sale. I know I put the cart before the horse, but has anyone ever used this one before? How did you like it?

Just saw this on The Digital Picture:

What do y'all think?

I need to get me either the new one or the old one, been making excuses far too long...

Software & Accessories / Breeze Browser vs. Lightroom
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:59:54 PM »
I was wondering: has anyone used Breeze Browser? Arthus Morris swears by it, but I have never heard of it anywhere else. Has anyone used it, or know why I would want to use it instead of LR?

United States / Canon Mirrorless... Could we see lower f-stop lenses?
« on: October 28, 2011, 02:52:55 PM »
Suppose canon went and made a mirrorless sort of camera, perhaps with a 2xish crop like most of them out there. Could we see lower f-stop lenses more widely available, especially zooms? My old c-mount 22.5-90 f1.5 as an example: could they not with the better tech of today make a similar zoom for the larger 2xish crop sensor? 16-120 f1.8, maybe? 50-200 f2?

As I am thinking about it,  a 135 f2L on a crop camera would be a wild lens!
