PowerShot Cameras / S120 Successor?
« on: December 26, 2014, 09:45:10 PM »
Granted there has been the G7X, however that is more of a Sony RX100 competitor and significantly more upscale at $700 compared to the S series which typically has ranged $400-$450.

S120 is currently down to $399 so maybe a successor is in the works, otherwise Canon seems to have a gap in their line up.  Think we will see a replacement coming in January as it is now past due?

PowerShot Cameras / Will the G17 have a 1" sensor?
« on: July 28, 2014, 10:43:14 AM »
Had heard the G17 will have 1" sensor with 24-200mm lens:

Canon G17 Rumored Specification

24-200mm f/1.4-2.0 lens
New 1″ Sensor
all magnesium body with comfortable grip

Is this legit?

PowerShot Cameras / A New Large Sensor PowerShot Coming Soon...
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:22:36 PM »
Is there any update on the A New Large Sensor PowerShot?  Is it going to be a fixed lens like the Nikon A or have a fast lens with a small range of zoom?

Is the G1X replacement due in the next couple of months?

PowerShot / Down to the RX100 or G15...
« on: September 17, 2012, 04:49:00 PM »
I was so looking forward to the S100 successor, mainly for the Lens Error correction, but the changes seem disappointing.  Glad to see they finally addressed the poor focus issue, but touch screen, removed the grip, AND still the slow lens.

Then comes the G15 which is impressive.  By getting rid of the flip screen (yes, some like it, but I have never used it on my previous G cameras), the managed to reduce the overall size of the camera which is a welcome relief as it was just getting too big.

Then there is the RX100.  Kind of in a class of its own with its 1" sensor (maybe Canon will finally make it happen on the G16 or S120, but for now we are still stuck with the 1/1.7" sensor).  However, curious whether most people prefer the faster lens on the G15 or the bigger sensor on the RX100?

Considered the P7700, but it weighs more than the G15 and is wider and thicker than the G15.

Third Party Manufacturers / G12 Successor Preview
« on: August 21, 2012, 11:59:32 AM »
So the Nikon P7200 successor has been announced.  Still the same size sensor, but the removal of the viewfinder and changed from a CCD to CMOS sensor plus the change to a zoom 28mm-200mm F2-4 in 35mm.

Is this likely the same we will see with the G12 successor?

PowerShot / S100 or SX260
« on: August 16, 2012, 09:09:51 PM »
Trying to decide between the S100 and SX260.  Camera will be used solely in Auto mode.  Much feifference in IQ?  Solely interested in still shots, no video.  This will be used as my sole camera for all purposes.

PowerShot Cameras / Canon Powershot S105 (S100 replacement)
« on: August 04, 2012, 07:37:38 AM »
Is this the camera expected to be announced later this month with the f/1.9 lens?  After the G1X and now the S100 problems, Canon needs this one to be a hit.
