Has anyone tried printing directly from a 6D to a Canon Selphy CP910 dye-sub printer over WiFi? I'm considering picking one up for an upcoming Halloween event at our local zoo, and I was wondering how smoothly these two work together for real-time printing. Particularly, 1) how long it takes to transmit JPEG photos to the printer, and 2) whether the camera is tied up during the entire 50-60sec printing process after transmission. I can't seem to find any of these details in the manuals or a Google search. They warn you not to interrupt the transfer or you will get corrupted images, but they don't describe timing or buffering.

For background, we set up a photo shoot for kids in costume last year, and sold 4x6 prints as part of a fund-raiser. I set up WiFi pairing between my 6D and a laptop running the WFT pairing utility, EOS Utility and Lightroom, so JPEGs were automatically sent to the computer over WiFi as I shot, and had an assistant printing to an older Selphy over USB. I'd love to drop out the computer piece and print directly from the camera if that is practical. BUT I don't want to stand around like a goof for 2 minutes after sending each print job either.

Experiences appreciated. It's cheap enough I may just try it, but thought I'd ask.

Lighting / Cold shoe recommendation for 600EX-RT

I'm finding it difficult to reliably attach my 600EX-RT's to generic cold shoes (e.g. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/743061-REG/Vello_CS_Universal_Accessory_Shoe_Mount.html/prm/alsVwDtl), and last week I had a flash slip off and hit the floor after I though it was tight. No damage, amazingly, but very worrying since these flashes aren't cheap!

Has anyone found a cold shoe that works well with Canon's quick-release mounts on the 600EX and 430EX-II? I didn't have this much trouble with my old 580EX and 430EX with the screw plates.

Lenses / De-centered 17-40L - worth repairing?

My 7 year old 17-40L appears to have developed a moderate amount of de-centering, with the left side softer than the right from 17-24mm. I confirmed it isn't a focus issue by inverting the camera are re-shooting without refocusing. It's apparent at 100% and somewhat at 50% (when looking for it), but not really at web sizes. It's actually more obvious on the 50D APS-C than 6D FF, probably due to the finer pixel pitch pressing the resolution limits.

I realize this is a pretty common problem with this lens, and the borders and corners typically aren't stellar anyway, but it's bugging me and I'm considering having it repaired. Any experiences (good or bad) having this kind of optical alignment work done on UWA zooms? Given the relatively low price of this lens new, I'm tempted to sell it off (with disclosure) and trying a new one under warranty.

Advise appreciated.

Lenses / 24-105L or Sigma 35.1.4 for 6D walk-around

I've been pretty happy with my 50D kit for general travel/nature/event photography, but I've been wanting to pick up a FF camera to achieve shallower DOF more easily for portraits and lower noise when shooting indoor events (e.g. my son's plays in dark theaters). I downloaded RAW samples from DPR for the 50D, 6D and 5D Mark III and played with them all in LR 4, and I was shocked at the difference between either FF and 50D (easily 2 stops in noise and better contrast across the board). I was leaning towards a 5D mark III, but I just can't justify the extra cash (as an amateur) and don't want the extra bulk and weight for travel, so I've settled on a 6D for its smaller size and GPS.

My dilemma, though, is whether to buy the kit with 24-105L or skip it and put the $500 towards a Sigma 35 1.4 HSM. I already have a 17-40L, 70-200 F4is and 85 1.8, so that wouldn't leave too big a gap in FL, and since what I'm really missing with my 50D is DOF control the large aperture 35 seems really appealing (particularly after the reviews I've read here). The 35 at 1.4-2 looks better than 24-105 at 5.6-8 to my eye. I used to shoot fixed FL lenses exclusively in my film days, so I know the pluses/minuses of that from a creativity standpoint and have no problem "zooming with my feet".

Any opinions of 24-105 vs 35 1.4 for a walk-around would be appreciated. Either way I intend to keep the 50D for now (probably bolted to the 100-400L for zoo/wildlife work).
