Reviews / Re: Bryan Carnathan has completed his review of the 7D Mark II
« on: November 23, 2014, 08:26:05 PM »
Read the review and agree with the results. In real life shooting I would never go over 800 with the 7D but with the 7DII willing to go to 3200. When you put that in context that everything has been improved and that new features added, I'm extremely happy with my upgrade to the 7DII, now I need a buyer for my 7D. Anybody interested?

Have had my 7DII for 24 hours, playing with the raw the last few hours on LR5.7. I have to say I find it much better than my 7D. Maybe lab results show "just" a 2/3 stop improvement in quality, but in real life I find it so much more than that. I look at my 3200 ISO shots and I'm liking them more than anything at ISO 800 with my 7D. Besides IQ, I find it a great improvement, I will definitely be using it next to my 5DIII, something I didn't do with my 7D.

Just did the upgrade from the Mark l to the Mark ll, bottom line if you can afford it, get the ll, if you can't work and save up for it. Well worth it. Sharpness and AF speed/accuracy for me made it worth it.

EPSON R3000
I have the R3000, works perfectly, no jamming, no clogging even if my printing is irregular and may go for a month or so without printing. People who view the prints find them very good indeed. Also prints great on matte paper.

I read where the Epson's use more ink than the Canon's, but I can't comment on that.

I would recommend the Epson R3000 absolutely!

Too bad it is April 1st! Love the camouflage styling. Good job.

I use LR and have a folder for each year with a subfolder for the day of the shot. I tag the photos in LR during or after the import process. Works well for me.

I'm a Canon guy 100%!  But more DR capability is always better if everything else is equal.

The analogy of a car with more HP is a good one. Don't always need it, but when you do, you are extremely grateful to have it. Extra HP can save your life and more DR can save a photo.

I hope Canon improves DR someday, but until then I will happily use my Canon 5D3, it is a great Camera.

"Actually, a car with too much power can easily be deadly if you don't know what you're doing with it."

"Back to dynamic range...I would completely agree with you if Canon's dynamic range were inadequate"

Regarding your first comment, I will take my chances with more DR. lol
Regarding the second comment, Canon DR is adequate, but I want great, not adequate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with my Canon, getting great photos with it, but there are times more DR would be welcome.  End of discussion for me.

But...everything else is NOT equal.

Yes and that is why I said it!!! LOL

Bottom line Neuroa.., would you prefer a 5D3 with greater DR or not?

I bought  a T4i, for my girlfriend and she loves it but says it is too big. So yes there is a market, I think it will be a success and I don't like mirrorless cameras so I find this is a fantastic move by Canon. Gee people complaining about too much choice, really don't get it.

I thought that's what the EOS-M was for. Or Nikon 1.

We both prefer DSLR with optical viewfinder format & EF-S mount. AF faster on T4i which was important also. Mirrorless is not for every one.

Great photos all, but for my taste some of them have too much post processing.
