Reviews / I want a 24-105 F2.8L

I don't care if its bulky and heavy. I want one!
I want a little more range than the 24-70 II. On my 1DX, it's too short for me.
I rented the 24-105 f4 for a week and I loved the extended range but the AF was terrible.
It produced a lot of out of focus images and when it did focus it was soft.
It is my everyday lens and I love it. I just wish I had those extra 35mm

Forgot to mention. I religiously format the card three times before a Photoshoot.

Had the same problem a few months ago using a Lexar 16GB 1000x.
I lost a whole photoshoot and hundreds of photos without a chance to recover any
Of them.
I tried at least 10 different data recovery applications, Even Lexar's own and nothing.
Called Then, they sent me a replacement card.
I had another 1000 X card with me since they were on sale at B&H. I started using the second card and five days later it died on me just like the first one did.
I called Lexar again to complain and they offered to send me a second replacement card. I actually forgot to send it back  and I have been using two cards on my Canon 1DX, the lexar and one SanDisk simultaneously. That way if One cards craps out, I will have a backup.
It is unheard of for an expensive CompactFlash to fail twice in a couple of months. I am guessing it might have been a bad batch. I got mine around July or August of last year. I actually haven't had any problems with Lexar since the replacement card was sent to me. And I have used it every day for the past eight months.
I average 300 photos a day, so, give or take I must have shot over 60000 images on The memory card and it hasn't
Failed yet...
Cross my Fingers it stays like this

I had a Pentax 110 Auto back in 1984.
It was a real SLR with a set of 3 lenses. It was cute, small and useable.
I don't see why Canon can't make a small DSLR with unique interchangeable lenses.

It's ridiculous that it takes a mega company like canon 7 months to add 2
Features to a camera.
The release was scheduled for December 21, 2012. But so is the end of the world as we know it...

Also if there is some light, even in bright mode, the points don't illuminate enough.

I thought we had all gone over this many time before that a square sensor cannot exist due to mirror clearance issues (unless of course it is 24mm x 24mm, which would be pointless)?

in case you did not notice we just put a rover on mars. 
the easiest way is to make the camera mirrorless.

and hey im not saying canon will do that im just saying it is rumored.   

We do not only  put it on mars :-D  we put a freaking rocket powered flying crane on mars and lowered it from that   After letting it fly 563,000,000 km trough Space! Just 2,4 km away from the spot we wanted   That is just like hitting a hair  280 Km away

So let canon-engineers do there job and bring us something new! 
square-sensor ?  problem with moving mirror ? let it stay and make its reflectivity electronic controllable
you are skeptical about that? look at you automatic dimming rear mirror in you car ... its exactly that
 
 just  the tip off the iceberg off  what is physically possible

I rather have a 7MP camera with the dynamic range of a 4K video camera than 40+MP with the existing DR

I dream of the day I can get the same output out of my camera as to what I see in the viewfinder.

Technology today should enable multiple sensors for highlights and shadows and midtones combined in real time.

Even if the camera did 3fps and have 7MP (approx. 4K resolution) I would
Buy one.

It's about time cameras start "seeing" what we see...

Man the 5D III was blown away...
I am not a videographer so my view on the subject is purely impartial and for fun...

I am very disappointed that after 150 years of photography, nobody can come up with something close to what the human eye sees. I have been dreaming of a photographic camera that can deliver the kind of dynamic range the Blackmagic camera has.

No matter how expensive the camera, the dynamic range is still limited. HDR is a joke. Who has time to post process 3 photos to create what should be done in camera, and in real time.

I think it is totally possible to have a professional camera with 2, or 3, smaller sensors: One for highlights,  one for shadows, and mid tones with a real time preview and on the fly processing.
I wouldn't care for huge megapixels or frames per second.
I would rather take a 7MP camera with this kind of dynamic range than a huge 40MP camera that still "sees" One light...
No matter the price... a $199 pocket camera or a $7000 1DX, the problem is still the same. You have to choose just one exposure...
I really dream of the day where the output of my camera is the same thing I see thru the view finder.
For example, take a picture of a well lit interior on a bright sunny day or a silhouette against a sunset without using a flash...
Maybe the technology is already out there. Even cheap video cameras can get close, and now seeing this amazing Blackmagic camera makes you realize the original 5D II was used by cinematographers because, at the time, it was cheap in comparison.
Who would use a photo camera to do video if they had a choice? Nobody...
The Blackmagic will dethrone the 5D II and III as the inexpensive cine camera alternative...
As I understand, the workflow can be a pain but then again, videographers spend countless hours editing, so they should be used to it... And with results like these, who cares?

I do fashion and glamour photography.
I do at least 45 girls a month.
Averaging 400-500 Photos per girl...
That's 270,000 per year.
The 1D X has a life of 400K.
So I should be replacing the shutter in about 2 years.
My old 1D IV had 270,000 on it after 2 years of use. I had Canon replace the shutter for only $250 at a CPS Gold discounted price. 
Not bad for basically getting a brand new camera.
Don't be afraid to shoot.
