Lenses / Re: 24mm f/2.8 IS - is it worth it?
« on: May 27, 2013, 12:59:10 PM »
I had the lens on my 60D and was quite happy with the results (near to no distortion) and the IS was great in lower light where I thought the picture would have been blurred due to the low shutter speed, but it wasn't. But it depends... What I missed in the lens was a zoom for what I used it for, so when being places I found myself swapping from that lens to a 50mm f/1.4 back and forth. So I digged deep and bought the 24-70mm f/2.8 II and a 6D instead :)

I also agree that a 35mm f/2 might be worth considdering also! I'd rather have the new 35mm f/2 IS than the 24mm f/2.8 IS, just my 2 cents though the currency is "kr." in my country :D

Lenses / Re: EOS 6D kit worth it with Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS?
« on: January 03, 2013, 01:38:16 AM »
The lens is in stock where I can buy the kamera, but it doesn't seem like there are much info about it on the web. There's a preview at dpreview.com.

What about the EOS 6D with the 24-105mm IS combo? I was just thinking that the 24-70mm is new and both are f/4.

I do like the wifi and GPS feature of the 6D, also the smartphone thing, though it's mostly for the fun of it. The 5D2 is discontinued but surely a great camera.

Lenses / EOS 6D kit worth it with Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS?
« on: January 02, 2013, 05:00:06 PM »
Hi everyone!

I'm not a pro at all, but I like to have descent gear to capture great moments of my kids, vacations and playing around at times also. I currently own the 60D which was an upgrade for me from the 500D. Now I'm considdering the 6D but I don't know if the new kit lens Canon EF 24-70mm f/4 L IS USM is worth it? It's about half the price for the lens if I buy the kit it seems (here in Denmark), but still, it's a lot of money coming from the lower end 60D, hence the question! :)

I would have these lenses acquiring the 6D:
 - EF 50mm f/1.4
 - EF 24mm f/2.8 IS

And I would say goodbye to these because of fullframe:
 - EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (my first lens)
 - EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro

I don't miss a zoom that often, so I mainly use the 50mm. I use the 24mm for video and if I have to capture more like inside. So is this EF 24-70mm f/4L IS worth it? I would presume that at 24mm my prime lens is better due to being f/2.8 but also image quality?

Any help is appreciated if you want to help a semi-beginner! ;)

Technical Support / Re: Canon EOS 60D microphone very low?
« on: November 04, 2012, 05:29:03 PM »
I tried playing with the sound settings and when on Auto I can see if the mic picks up sound when in menu. If I click/snap with my fingers in front of it, it goes all up, so it doesn't seem to be the mic?

When I record something the sound on the video is just bad. I've attached a sample from a video, just the sound. I speak directly to the camera!

Tried 1.1.1 firmware, but why should it help. I just want to be sure I didn't change something I don't know about before considdering how to get it fixed :)

Technical Support / Canon EOS 60D microphone very low?
« on: November 04, 2012, 04:13:16 PM »
I've owned a Canon EOS 60D for some time and I'm really happy about it. But today when I recorded a movie I could barely hear the sound in the video except for loads of like static noise, white noise or what it's called :)

I tried to reset camera settings and I've checked microphone volume with auto and manual, it's the same problem. Have anyone experienced anything like this? I fear it's a mechanical issue and I don't know if it's worth a repair due to possible costs and even to find anyone who can repair it.

I don't use video much, but it's a shame to have as a negative thing when upgradering the camera someday...
