Very nice. Beyond the qualities of the photography, this north american loves the architecture.

Quick, somebody smite me for voting without carefully reading all the options

Rather, I applaud you for voting like a typical American...   :-X
The site is owned by a Canuck, therefore no vote is legal unless it's published in both official languages... bien sur.

It's interesting to consider all the different directions this thread has taken.

Words are flexible in the English language. Nobody practices medicine as a hobby, so "doctor" has a fairly uniform meaning. Yet, one can be a doctor of philosophy or recieve an honorary doctorate. Again, there are no hobby-barristers (that I know of), so we all have a fixed idea of what someone calling himself a lawyer does as his day job.

Drift over to an activity that can be performed recreationally and we have "pilot" who may only fly Cessnas and possess a PPL. Yet, fighter pilots, commercial pilots and airline pilots are not offended when someone calls them simply "pilot" despite the years of additional training and higher graduation of licencing.

I am likely the worst, least-knowledgeable photographer on this site. Yet, because I share a passion for photography and have carried a camera around in one form or another since acquiring my Kodak X15 in 1972, I have no problem describing myself with the term.

Now, others might not share my interpretation....    ;)

I just gave each of you a +1.

Thanks, but I also collected 2 more smites for expressing that opinion.   :(

It's all a bit infantile, isn't it?

It's like any tool. In infantile hands, it is infantile. In mature hands, it's a useful and helpful tool.

I don't think it's useful at all. Surely we're all grown up and intelligent enough to guage which posters are worth reading and which aren't. And, most of us should be able to take a hint when others object to our own views and shouldn't need some arbitrary ranking system to give us false feedback.

I collected 6 or 7 smites for linking to the "throw my 7D in the dustbin" video. I didn't make the video, I didn't say that I agreed with the video, I only found it amusing and somewhat informative. Yet, here my reputation is -"under water" because of that one link.

The karma system has become something akin to that famous sociological experiment whereby the university students kept giving electric shocks to their peers. There's no repercussion for being mean, so one can push the button capriciously and maliciously without damaging his or her own reputation. One person with an axe to grind can smite another poster once every two hours. Under this system- ONE troll could destroy one legitimate reputation in 2 or 3 days.

And that's useful?

learn composition in camera.
that will give you more details then cropping bad shots afterwards.

now you will say "often i can´t get close enough for the right composition".
well i say better spend your money on a tele instead of a 36MP camera.

OP needs to capture every athlete in the race. Not sure what the distribution method for the photos is, but in the two uncropped shots of the runners, you can see their race numbers - that might be necessary

That's the only reason atheletes wear numbered bibs. Everything else is in an rfid chip that's usually tied to our shoelaces. The photogs pick a spot along the race course and make the best of whatever comes their way. The results usually aren't pretty...  :P  Participants pay $40-$80 for their race photos to whatever company has contracted the event although I'm not sure what each invidual photographer nets.

Yeah, it's a crappy snapshot taken with a DSLR. Still, I think that every married man here can relate...

I never implied that anyone was lying. Your bank has its own reasons but it's not because of Henrys' business practices, people in this country worship that place.  Besides which, two other American posters in this thread successfully made the transaction you attempted and had rave reviews. The consipiracy theorist in me wonders if it has anything to do with Chase being the financier for Best Buy/Future Shop, but it couldn't be that, could it?  ;D

Sorry for offending you, Wellfed.  I certainly wasn't trying to bad mouth Henry's or Canada.
Oh, no offense at all... I was thinking that maybe I'd offended you. I don't have a dog in that fight- no affiliation to Henrys other than I occasionally buy stuff there. As for the country- we have our share of shady businesses and no-goodniks too, but we try to train the latter to be NHL enforcers.

Henrys is as pure as the driven snow.  If Chase wouldn't authorize then it was for some other reason.

Well, welcome as an "official" poster, John-Mark (but shouldn't that be Jean-Marc?)   ;)

Thanks for the comments. Where in France do you live?  I've been to Paris many times, but always on business. Someday I'll have to visit as a tourist, perhaps with a 5D3 strapped around my neck.
