Software & Accessories / Re: BG-E16 an ergonomic disaster?
« on: November 18, 2014, 12:43:03 PM »
Anyone have any idea/opinion whether an L plate (RRS) for a Gripped 5D3 would fit on a Gripped 7D2? The grips look pretty close. I don't use it all that much. It would be nice if I could use it for both.

If kinda fits ... I put it on and it basically lines up but I would not do video/use any connecting cables as the slots don't align perfectly, but you can switch from landscape to portrait easy enough...

I too have both the 5dIII grip and this grip, my complaint is the lever / joystick is noticeably lower and further away than on the actual body.  I almost had to look at the camera to 'find' it the first time I used it.

On the grip, it is a little lower, further away from the natural resting position, and much harder to accidentally flip, but I would say a little too hard to use conveniently. An unnatural motion of the thumb is required...

I returned mine due to front focusing issues.  Volleyball players' arms and hands were in focus instead of the torso or face.  It was a frequent occurrence.  It may be something correctable by AFMA but FOCAL isn't working yet with the camera.

Sometimes the DoF can be an issue, but this was also shot at f2.0, so I agree maybe AFMA is off on yours...

That is sick. If the only arrow that hit it was where I can see then that animal suffered. I hope it was delt with more humanely than is suggested by this image. I'm all for killing something if you'll eat it and the kill is legal, but I don't get why there's any need to pose like this.

I apologize to those taking offense- the deer died immediately-and will not be hit by a car,  & it is already being used as food. The pose was a chance for me to try my new Gary Fong flash modifier.  In my excitement, I left the batteries/camera on all night-hence posting to this topic.

Funny, I left both my gripped 7dMII and 5dIII on last night by mistake - I was a little excited - see attached photo in next post.

My 7dII had 24 / 30 % left in each battery, and the 5dIII did a little better at 34/38 %, so I guess the drain is not too bad. Don't remember how much was left at the end of my day, but I didn't shoot the CAMERAs too much - was too busy with my crossbow.... :)

The flickering phenomenon is still real / valid for many of us, and I can say that shooting the 7d II with anti-flicker feature has significantly eased my post-processing headaches in this gym; now if ACR would just come out, then the headache of DPP to TIFF to LR would also disappear....

It takes a long time to cycle out all the old units....
Sure, but the last time I've seen flickering discharge lamps in a high school gym was about a decade ago, and the serious venues where faster to adapt.

Here is a link to high school flickering lights in the year 2014....

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 7d mk2 seems very soft?

I've shot >1500 images already, with great glass (200, 200-400, 135) and find no issues. My question is will colors be the same once ACR is available? The OOC JPGS under fluorescent lights in gyms is not as natural as the 1Dx, 1dIV or 5d3 RAW FILES

My Bestbuy got 3 kits on 10/30 and sold 2 within 24 hrs. My local photo retailer got one kit on 10/31 and did not sell it. An employee will buy it when they get another to sell from Canon.
