5D MK III Sample Images / Post your favorite camera gear here
« on: October 07, 2013, 10:39:46 AM »
After 2 weeks playing with X100s, I’m still in love with retro/classic/vintage body style. Hope Canon will have something like this soon.

What is your favorite gear?

Found this on my desk this morning :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D It's my 7th anniversary gift from the wife.

Can you guess what this is? Hint: 1st letter is "X" and last is "S"

I'm heading out...will post some pics later

I brought my wife to local camera store last week. She wanted a "pink" camera bag for the RX1. While I was there, I got a chance to play with x100s.

I'm NOW having a high fever for it ::) ::) ::)

I took this picture with Sony RX100II, in low light. This is 3200ISO, JPEG straight out from camera, zero PP.

RX1 & RX 100 II always amazed me...body size and IQ.

EOS-M / Mount EF, EF-S or L lens on EOS-M --- Your thought???
« on: August 24, 2013, 10:37:53 PM »
Most of us, including myself, got great deal on EOS-M + 22mm for $299 through BH.

I bought it for one reason - $299 deal. I simply used the M as P&S camera. EOS-M is an average compact camera that we can carry around.

Recently, I start seeing many posts showing M mounted with EF, EF-S and even L. It’s nice that Canon came up with adapters for those lenses.

Here is my 2cents: I think Canon should make more pancakes or something smaller for current M & M2. I just don’t see myself buying an adapter for EF, EF-S or even L lens so that I can mount it on tiny body.

Your thoughts?

EOS-M / Won a EOS-M + 22mm at Golf Tournament
« on: August 14, 2013, 09:56:57 AM »
The company I work for opened a golf tournament, to support American Cancer Society. With 2 kids (2 & 4yrs), I couldn’t recall the last time hitting balls at the range, therefore, I didn’t expect to win any prices from the tournament.

It turned out, Hole #14, par 3, 165yards, #7 iron – I got my very 1st HOLE-IN-ONE ;D ;D ;D. I thought I going get a 1D X for that, it turned out EOS-M + 22mm. Final score +9.

I thought I would share my "HAPPY STORY" with everyone here.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / My Canon 5D III went down today :((
« on: August 08, 2013, 09:21:37 AM »
I took over 100 photos yesterday. This is what I get straight out from my camera(JPEG) – over 60% of photos are like this or worst. I haven’t review raw yet.

You guys have any idea?

I’m 15mins away from Canon Service Center in Irvine, CA. My 5D III still under 1yr warranty.

Lenses / Canon 14mm II for "Yangshuo, China"
« on: August 06, 2013, 09:41:12 AM »
My next business trip to HK & China is in mid Sep. We going to have a weekend off in China, my co-workers and I are planning visit “Yangshuo, China”. You can see Yangshuo landscape in their $20 bill.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1345&bih=583&q=Yangshuo&oq=Yangshuo&gs_l=img.3..0l10.75248.75248.0.76672.1.1.0.0.0.0.143.143.0j1.1.0....0...1ac..23.img..0.1.143.0--rVoPFPVg

For the gear, I’m going heavy this time:
1. First body - 5D III + 16-35 II or 14mm II + 24-70 II backup
2. Second body - 5D III + 70-200 f2.8 IS II
I never hand on 14mm II before and I would like to rent it for couple weeks for this trip. Are there any cons compared to 16-35 II?

For those “been there & done that”:
1. Are there places in “Yangshuo” that you recommend for landscape photos?
2. Activities that you would recommend?
3. Since my co-workers and I don’t speak Chinese, do we really need a tour guy? We prefer our own paste, however, we still want to know the historical of Yangshuo.

Look forward to have your feedbacks.

Thanks
Dylan
