Technical Support / Re: 24-70 L II softest at 35mm?

Mine is sharp.

@ service: I too don`t like not to be able just to get a replacement.
They should invest their time having no sufficient QC.

PowerShot / Re: Touring Rome with a Powershot SX50

Yes, the best camera is the one which is available/in your hands.

I am going to visit Rome in February. Was there before two times.
With my 5dIII. Some lenses. One flash.
And my Sony RX100.

I want to make some big prints from the pictures I take there.
Therefore: nice pictures, but I am sacrifying some of my human power to carry my backpack.
(Comfortable ThinkTank Streetwalker HD, can only recommend it).

I love Italy!!

PowerShot / Re: Canon G1X or Sony RX 100 II or EF-M 18-55 IS STM

I only have the RX100, can't compare.
It is an uncomplicated, small companion with a very good IQ.
So if I leave my 5d or 1d at home, it feels good to have this small cam.
Video: hm. Very good quality, IF the AF doesnt pump. I use it so rarely, but I know you can manual focus it.
Small, stealthy, I live mine.
BTW: the minimal increased IQ of the v2 doesnt compensate its higher weight.
I am glad that I am not tempted to replace mine!

Dear Rusty!

Yes, teaching someone is strange. You yourself as a teacher will learn a lot.
(And sometimes this process leads to a nice collaboration.)
As I told you: if youre not getting paid for this, let the pupil come to you at free will.

Again: have fun!

If she is interested (and this is valid for every craft or hobby) I would offer her to take a look at her results.
She then shoots, what she likes and you can offer her some hints how to make it different, better, or what gear would help.
To learn about basics like aperture or shutterspeed: same. She can choose a book or a class.
I would do it laissez-fair.
If someone is interested in something, he will talk about it.
So for you.
Have fun!

Software & Accessories / Re: Camera holsters/bags
« on: November 08, 2013, 03:06:43 AM »
ThinkTank Digital Holster 50 v2.
I have it, and like it a lot.
You can have a pro- body with a 70-200/2,8II AND the TC 1,4 attached AND the hood is in position.
If you like to have it smaller, you can zip it down.
You can carry it around the shoulder, or carry it like a baby in front.
Nice holster.

I like third party producer for their different lenses.
And I hope, it will be a good one.
If so, and I am not in a hurry, I wait for comparision between this and the newer version of the 100-400L.
Ah, good times.....

No messing around with 3rd party- solutions.

Software & Accessories / Re: Another Stupid Question about Format CF.
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:06:50 AM »
Dear Suprapon!
As far as I know, you should format the CF- card IN the camera, before you use it.
I had no problems using with 300D, 50D, 1D4, 5D2, 5D3; the SD using 1D4, 5D3 and the Sony RX100.
