Canon General / Re: Is this rude or just customer apathy?
« on: October 21, 2013, 12:20:05 PM »
Good points.
(And its good luck I earn my living not in this business!)
Sometimes its an awful feeling being kind, helpful, flexibel and then that.
The "artsy" - community is even worse.
You got good luck if a model is there at the time.
Photographers are the same, I've been told- don't know.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Buy the 5D3 now or wait?
« on: October 20, 2013, 02:58:35 PM »
Waiting on a maybe cheaper price: go, get it and have fun with it.
Might get cheaper, might not.
Sure you want it.
Sure you enjoy it.
My 2 cents on this and similar questions.
Pardon me!

It was rude.
And for the "keep the client"- argument:
I refuse having clients like this.
Being nice and handsome most of the people misunderstand as weakness.

My 2 cents.

Canon General / Re: What's Next for Canon?
« on: October 18, 2013, 03:56:08 AM »
Canon in my eyes for the last few years:
brought us some excellent lenses (24-70 and 70-200, both 2,8, both v2.0; the range of the superteles)
the radio triggered flashes: nice!!!

Bodies: don`t know 1DX, like to have one.
5DIII: goodygood, espacially the new AF. (and please: make the SD- slot faster!! UHS was there long before!!)1D4: solid, fast, reliable. Love it.

What I don`t like so much: the cuts and cripples to make a camera fit in "their" segment.
Example: buffersize, the lame AF of the 5DII.

Owning a lot of Canon equipment I have to say: thank you Sony, being such a good competitor!!!
And as we have seen with the new flashes with built in radiotransmitters: lets see, what the old lady C. does!

Canon General / Re: You know it is going to be a bad day when...
« on: October 11, 2013, 01:08:13 AM »
When I was up all night because of my work and have to sit in my office the following day.
Then everything is very annoying, because I'm tired.

Cropping is nothing evil.
Even if some of the icons like HCB liked their prints uncropped its sometimes necessary.
Otherwise an angle correction would look worse than before.
Or how do I get the "golden ratio" (1:1,618)?
If it is going to be framed this is something to think before printing.
Yes I crop!

How I would like to have such a space....

I absolutely agree with the fatter the slower.
But the 600 EX RT was a good creation (or reaction on the demand) for off camera flashers.
Cured me from looking over the fence.

Software & Accessories / Re: What would you do without Photoshop?
« on: October 07, 2013, 03:38:31 AM »
I like to "work" with my digital negatives with Photoshop.
It`s not a matter of fixing something, its the process of optimizing the material I have.
Looking back to the darkroom days and even with some romantic memories I prefer the possibilities of today AND Photoshop.
Better results. And this counts.
Would be a drawback not using Photoshop.

Lighting / Re: Lastolite Octabox 102cm with which boom stand?

A real good idea, thank you for the pictures.
And it gives an answer too how to fix the CP E4s without harming their cables.

So a rod in the conterdirection of the box?
Hm. Nice idea.
Maybe I can use the hole for the umbrella.
I check it- tomorrow.
Thank you.

Lighting / Lastolite Octabox 102cm with which boom stand?
« on: October 04, 2013, 04:26:31 PM »
After using my new Octa from Lastolite with the "normal" straight stand I have got in a set with my much smaller Ezybox, I realized, I need something with a counterweight.
I use it with the speedlight bracket, the LL2701 for 1 or 2 speedlights.
My shortlist contains 2 versions of the Manfrotto 420: 420b or 420csu.
Will the 420b enough, or is this box too heavy and I need the 420csu?
The difference in cost doesnt matter so much as I like to buy and have fun, not fiddling around with just a bit too small/lightweight gear.
On the other way, when I have to carry this stand to another place, it would be nice to have the version with less weight.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
