EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Specs [CR1]

I understand that this is more of a studio camera than a sport camera but i hoped canon would only increase the megapixels to 24 and put better noise reduction and continuous shooting at 6/7 frames per second. Does anyone know the pricing for this camera?
Why implement noise-reduction, when they could reduce noise-genesis using larger pixels? Along the way, DR would increase too.  8)

Not sure why people feel the need for so many auto-focus points.
For a working tracking AF. With my 400D's 9-point-AF, real tracking is not possible.

Than the Steven Spielbergs came with extra wishes for video. Higher FPS, better AF etc.
[...]
Nice for our friends, the Spielbergs, but for my part, Canon could better spend that research on higher DR and low noise performance.
No Spielberg will use AF when filming.
But: Spielberg would be glad about higher DR and better low light performance. :)

T3i/600D

- Redesign of the model nameplate as well.
Hm... they just created a consistent design of the nameplate (7D, 60D, 550D) why should they change it that soon?

Heck, even the new power focus mode on the new tele lenses are there for video and made these lenses partly more expensive. :'(
What is power focus? Are you shure only video benefits from that?

How a 30.4 mm could be a wide angle ? Is it a medium format sensor ? no it's a 1/3'' ... 30.4 is a long lens on such a small sensor ... maybe it's a 3.4 mm and a typo ??
In fact, 30.4mm (35mm equiv) are wideangle concerning most consumer camcorders, Most of them start with focal length longer than 36mm...

Where would the new sensor come from? Canon would not make one just for this 1100 camera.
As far as I now they did so for the 1000D.

The 600D specs sound reasonable to me... I for one expected Canon to go back to a 1,5yr cycle for the xxxD series. But IF a 600D is released this spring, it will probably be only a very slightly upgraded 550D as reported in this rumor.

The thing I'm not believing is the 12MP sensor of the 1100D although I would appreciate it. However, I don't believe in a 1100D at all ;).

But we'll see... "Time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell." ;)

If you want to do some ambitious video once in a while, get the 550D / wait until the price drops.

When no video is needed, get the 500D.

The 5D Mkll is has been a runaway sales success way beyond Canon's expectaions.

I repeat my question - what is your basis for saying that? I'd like to see some data please.

Japanese 2010 System Camera Sales Analysis:

So that means, the 5DMkII sold well?

EOS Bodies / Re: Buy Canon T2i or wait for the "T3i"
« on: December 29, 2010, 07:59:34 PM »
I'm definitely getting the T2i, its all about timing for me, if I can save hundreds of dollars I am willing to wait...

The 60D is out of my range and my dad says don't bother with his old 20D.
You won't save hundreds of dollars. Maybe a few dollars, yes, but not hundreds. Additionally, I don't think that there will be a T3i that soon. The T2i has no competitor right now and is a lot of camera for that price.

I don't agree with your dad. The 20D is a good camera. But the T2i isn't bad either... ;)

I think 2011 will bring replacements for (in chronological order):
Rebel XS replacment (12MP, 720p video, ISO 3200 max)
7D Mark II
1Ds Mark IV
T2i replacement (entry-level 7D Mark II specs)
Replacement of
- Rebel XS: I don't think so. T1i is going to be the new XS.
- 7D: hummmmm, I don't think, we will see it coming 2011
- T2i: I'm not sure. My guess would be, that Canon waits longer than a year, before they release the T3i. The T2i is speced very well.

43
What do you miss regarding the 7D?

I don't think that there will be a 7D MkII in March. There will possibly be a 600D/T3i in march, but no 7D MkII.

17-40 f/4L will most likley be replaced by a 15-60 f/4L IS.
According to who?

According to me.  This is a rumors site after all so I am starting a rumor.  15-60 f/4L IS
Ok. ;)
How much will it cost? Four times the price of 17-40? ;)
