EOS Bodies / Re: 6D Top Focus Point Light Bleeding Issue
« on: February 04, 2013, 06:48:13 PM »
That is how it looks on my 350D.
You can see the spot of every LED-lighting up the Focus screen.
Normally you will just see the engraved dots on the FS been lit.

Lenses / Re: Photo jargon question: f/stops
« on: January 10, 2013, 01:32:54 PM »
Because it is a relevant fact about the lens.

Would they not do that you would have to search far more to know if the 16-35 or 17-40 is capable of gathering more light and why the 16-35 is double the Price ;)

EOS Bodies / Re: Why do you want a FF Mirrorless?
« on: November 22, 2012, 07:24:20 AM »
There's already an FF mirrorless.  Sony A99.  FF, mirrorless in DSLR form factor.
It is not mirrorless! The mirror is only fixed and there is no OVF.

Lighting / Re: 5D Mark II triggering 2 flashes
« on: November 16, 2012, 11:33:58 AM »
Do I understand you right, that the 430EX on the hotshoe shout  have normal TTL with the Camera as if it was alone and the 580EX should just be trigged and you want to use manual flash on the 580 ?

That will work !

TTL for the 580 on the PC-terminal  NO !

As mentioned  the 580 could be on the HS and trigger the 430 as slave.

Lenses / Re: Best solution for organizing numerous lenshoods

i heard that tulip-shaped lenshoods start to soar if spinned with 1000rpm or more.
I think I have to test that :D

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5DMiii Shutter Button doesnt click ?
« on: November 12, 2012, 06:00:36 PM »
Totally normal. It is easier to control higher frame rates with this type of shutter button.

Beside that the shutter button on my old 350D lost its pressure point some day last year but beside that it works fine. The one on the BG still  has it (because it takes  less use than the main shutter button I think)

Most professional photographers rarely use IS or even turn it on.

Agreed. I am technically a professional (reporter/photog with a weekly newspaper) and I have IS turned off on the lens that has it (24-105) and I did not bother buying the IS version of the 70-200 f/2.8 because at the speeds I shoot, it's not going to have an effect.

Apart from many other things, I spend an awful lot of time with reporters etc (and have done for a couple of decades) and I cannot remember a single time noticing one of them had any of their cameras with IS off. Why would they? Why would you? Makes no sense.

There could be some weird feedback loop with high frequency vibrations in some cases.
That could be a reason to turn IS of.
But I don´t get why he has not used a faster prime lens ?

Lenses / Re: 16-35 ii on crop
« on: November 08, 2012, 02:55:20 PM »
I also use it time to time on my 7D it is a nice non-extending weatherseald nice too use L-Lens ( Much nicer, than the 17-55 which extends by zooming and has zoom and focus rings not even near as nice ;) )
7D with 16-35 II is really a nice to use combo!

EOS Bodies / Re: Hydroscopic coatings
« on: November 05, 2012, 06:17:11 PM »
I think there is a lot that Canon could do!
That Cameras die of water damage  because of corrosion is something that is in most cases avoidable with Hygroscopic coatings.
Getting a Camera that doesn't care about being dropped  and fully submerged in water, I don´t think so.
There are too many mechanical parts that can not operate in such environments without huge defensives against the Water. Just think of the extreme  fast moving shuttermechanism.

These Hygroscopic coatings work so well in mobile phones because there are virtually no moving parts.

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 24-70 f/4L IS Coming [CR3]

I don´t think so. It could be the same as with the 16-35 and 17-40 coexistence.

Lenses / Re: Canon Lens Serial Number -question
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:03:04 PM »
Your lens will have a Date Code which tells you where and when it was made. Have a look here: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Canon-Lenses/Canon-Lens-Aging.aspx

Will it?  A date code is not stamped on some L lenses.
my 28-135  and 50 1.4
doesn´t have them!

EOS Bodies / Re: 6D or 5D Mk II
« on: October 25, 2012, 03:47:08 PM »

* They do specifically mention the camera focusses at -3EV, there is no mention like that for the 5dm3 that i could find but that may just be marketing hype to make it appear to stand out.

Last week an Canon-employee told and showed me  on charts that the 5D3 and 1DX are rated for -2EV so double the light.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: 6D Need To Change Something..
« on: October 24, 2012, 02:05:12 PM »
Germany already has the 6D avail?
No, but I where at a special event at my local Calumet store and Canon brought the hole! Camera and lens line up including the new 6D. So I hat the chance of test it out excessively with every lens I want and compare it to the other Cameras.  Sorry but I can´t give you the RAW pictures you and me want to have :(  I had my Cameras sensorcleaned at that moment and so I doesn´t have an SD-card with me. The Canon-staff was not that strict and I were able to remove the SD-card that was in the Camera and reinsert it a minute later without anyone taking notice off me ... so I could have get them when I hat an SD-card with me :(

I am from Germany and I already hat my half an hour with the 6D.
Placing it side by side with a 5D3 and 5D2 it is noticeable smaller and both of  the 5D had better ergonomics.
Mostly it comes from the total lac of buttons on the left screenside and the missing multicontroller.
The mode-dial without an endposition is also not really nice ( hard too use in darkness).
Also handholding an 400mm 2,8 was more comfortable on the 5D "and soo much more on the 1DX "
Beside from that it is a nice camera and it would not really be easy to chose between 6D and 5D2.

If someone want some more impressions on the 6D just ask ;)
