Lenses / Re: 4K to spend and I don't know what to do with it!!!

Personally it all depends on the style of shooting you are doing, since I come from a sports background my set up is a 7D and 5Diii both have a great autofocus system and that's a big key for me. If you don't need that then I would go for the 5Dii its a great body and the noise performance is better than that of the 7D, but the focus system and FPS is not as good.... As for glass I would get the cheaper 70-200 2.8 non IS, you save about a grand and as long as you keep a higher shutter speed you won't need it... I wouldn't get the 16-35 its too wide to use 9 times out of 10, but it is nice for those specialty shots, but you can use you 18-135 if you need to... but until I just recently upgraded I shot with a 30 1.4 on my 50D and a 70-200 on my 7D... That is a great set up and doesn't require a ton of money, but I have money invested in other strobes and stuff.... But the main thing you need is some good fast glass....

I ordered from B&H yesterday and have a feeling like I will be waiting forever the cheapest place that actually has them in stock is DigitalRev which are known more for their youtube videos, the cost in US is 3599.... You would think Canon would have

I have shot with this lens on the 1.3 crop on a 1D Markiii and comes with some amazing results the corners are not tack sharp but it you crop the photo just slightly it makes all the difference...

Personally I have the sigma 10-20 3.5 the only reason I went with that instead of the canon version was for the 3.5 all the way through. It is a little cheaper and at 10mm you can see some image flare, but at 10mm I want some of it. I also own the sigma 30 1.4 with is a great lens and those are the only two non-canon lenses I own and will probably be it for me... Since the new 5D FINALLY came out.... Sigma is a good overall brand just do extensive test's when you first get the lenses to verify you have a good copy.

I just hope its pretty close to the 1dmk4 if not better.... I shoot alot of concerts, weddings, and sports.... This camera sounds like the holy grail... (to me at least)

useable iso 6400-12800 should be standard.

All in all there better be a 5D replacement with at least slightly better iso performance and a much better focus system and around 3 grand....

Lighting / Re: Do I need the 580?
« on: February 21, 2012, 09:21:58 PM »
What it really comes down to is do you need HSS (high speed sync) and using the flash as a master
On amazon you can get a Yongnuo 565 for 149

and all that it is lacking is the two things I listed above. Its 469 to get ONE 580 EXII so you can buy two or three of the off brand flashes (just in case one dies or something) and you will still come out on top. I have a Yongnuo and it works great and I have off brand battery packs as well that work great with it. I do also have a 430EXII and with my past jobs I have used the 580EXII. To me it comes down to the HSS I need that at times but if you don't its a great alternative.

EOS Bodies / Re: 7D upgrade or wait for 5DX/III
« on: February 16, 2012, 09:54:38 PM »
I have worked at a University and shot extensively with a 1D Markiii. I personally own a 50D and 7D, the markiii has great iso performance over the 7D but is limited to 6400, unlike the 7D at 12800, but I try to keep the 7D below 2500 when shooting. In sports I shoot at 6400 iso all the time and when I shoot in RAW I can use noise reduction and get some really good results. But I would wait for the new 5D, its going to be awesome and I have been waiting for this camera WAY TOO LONG!
