Everyone should seriously stay away from this store "BestStopDeals".

I was one of the ones who purchased the 6D + 24-105mm at $1899 a few weeks ago.

It was advertised as "USA Model" but it turned out to be Grey Market Import Japanese Model with FAKE US warranty cards.

You can see the discussion (scroll down for the comments) about this deal last time, including photos others took of their fake warranty cards.

http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2014/05/update-on-eos-6d24-105mm-for-1899-unauthorized-dealer-via-ebay/

When I tried to contact the store about it I got lots of attitude and was told that I was wrong even though my camera was clearly imported model (import charger, Japanese box). The guy I talked to on the phone also just boasted that if I didn't want it I could return my camera and it would cost them nothing as they would just resell it as new in the next sale.

STAY AWAY.

This is news?  The 100D in white was released in Japan late last year (with a matching white 40/2.8, IIRC).

Was about to post the very same comment. :)

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Deal: Canon EOS 6D Body $1599
« on: March 24, 2014, 11:31:55 PM »
This is not a deal. You can get the whole kit for $1999. Even if you sell the 24-105 lens for $600. You get the body for $1400.

do tell, where might you find $1999?

Pretty much everywhere.

Not good prices by any stretch of the imagination.

50mm f/1.4 was $279 a month ago
85mm f/1.8 was $309 a month ago
16-35L was $1329 a month ago

And also this is the same price at every other major dealer.

I think it's a bit misleading to post these as "deals" and you are misleading people who aren't aware of the price history.

JBL, Have you seen those prices outside of during the Christmas season? Were they at the price you listed in January?

Yes, they were this price until the 2nd week of January.

And then Adorama had the 85mm f/1.8 for $319 on January 27th.

You just need to wait for a real deal. This is not a deal.

Canon General / Re: Deals at Adorama: 600EX-RT, Canon EOS 6D kit and more

Soooo disappointed I missed the 600EX-RT deal.  I immediately clicked over to buy 3, but they are $549 now, light scoop or no.  My 580EX-IIs and pocket wizards will remain my trusty workhorses for now.

I got in on the 600EX deal! But not from CR's post :( unfortunately by the time you had posted I think the deal was done.

Try subscribing (click notify button) on www.canonpricewatch.com I got e-mailed about this deal hours before the CR post!

But thanks for posting anyway!

It's only an okay price.

I got mine for $1563 in the last Canon Refurbished sale.

Don't want to deal with Canon mail-in rebates.

Looks like it is not just at B&H. But at the same time Canon did a massive price increase!

http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2013/09/canons-silent-labor-day-price-increase/

Not a bad price on the 17-55.
Are these permanent drops?

Yes they are permanent drops

EOS Bodies / Re: Bogus Canon Rebate Prices at B&H

Savvy buyers know that the first few hours of the rebate, when prices are still "in flux" is when the best deals happen. Sometimes the prices are even set incorrectly as the retailers don't rebate off the right base amount.

I scooped up the 6D+24-105mm deal this morning for $2199... and I added a 70-300 IS for $199.

After I sell the 70-300 IS for $300 and the 24-105mm for $700 I will have my $1200 6D body :)

Still extremely expensive, as soon as the BMC 4K camera hits the stores.
For another $2K less you get 4K instead of 1080p, 10-bit prores instead of 8-bit 4:2:0 H.264, and global shutter.
Yes, I know it does have some downsides. But it's much cheaper, and better where it counts most (to me).

$2K less? isn't the price difference only $1K?

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon USA Rebates Starting April 14, 2013 [CR3]
« on: April 13, 2013, 11:30:20 AM »
does any one have the historical rebates.  I am interested to see how the values changes over time (as well as which lens and cameras are included)

For individual lenses you can check out canon price watch, the graph at the bottom of the page shows the historic rebates.

e.g. the 70-200 II has been on rebate for the last year pretty much
